I was wondering what happened to you. Thanks for the update. From your song suggestions, I am guessing you came of age in the 80's like me! (born in 1971...)
I would google on thing....dr. Heather Ashton and her research on klonopin withdrawal symptoms. It will put you at ease to see this listed as a common withdrawal symptom.
I have taken 1500 mg of Keppra XR since November 2009. I have a combination of twitching and jerking which several neurologists have told me is more like myoclonus than BFS. I did notice a reduction in twitches once I hit 1000 mg. It was like turning down the volume on a radio or tv. Yet, it...
Mine started one week after quitting an herbal supplement. My current neuro's theory was that it was akin to stopping a benzo cold turkey (klonopin, Valium, etc.). We found some journal articles that stated the supplement 's ingredients worked on the brain's GABA system.
Howdy Angus. Sorry to hear you're suffering, but glad to hear from you. I have Gilbert's too, along with hashimoto 's thyroiditis and something called bicuspid aortic valve (similar to mitral valve prolapse). None of these things require treatment, but have all been found in my Bfs work ups...
I'm doing well. Thanks for asking. Tapering slowly off the Klonopin actually improved my symptoms. Still on the Keppra, the neuro will make a decision about decreasing that in the future. And the rest...I just tune it out like you said. Feel free to PM me anytime. Keep on keeping on...
Leslie,You sound 100% mentally healed to me. Congratulations.I remember when you were a newbie and I looked at your posts constantly for reassurance. Doesn't seem that long ago--but sounds funny to see people calling you a veteran.Terri
Have had them for as long as I can remember. A dermatologist I saw said the same thing as the other poster's. Some people just have them. Also, my primary care doc said you do get more of them as you get older.
Your neuro sounds really thorough and kind. I wish I could have seen her when all this started for me. Your symptoms match mine exactly, twitching and jerking leading to sleep deprivation. 2 1/2 years later, I am much better but not completely healed. But well enough to be off the Klonopin...
The latest I heard (on Dr. Drew) is that the students were being treated with antibiotics and steroids for PANDAS, a strep infection that affects the brain. Most of the girls were showing improvement, but a psychiatrist cautioned that it could be a placebo effect. Here is a link:
I've read your posts in the archives and they were a great comfort to me. We both have experienced waking up from sleep shaking. Good to hear from you.
Glad to hear the good news. Thanks for posting an update. I've been thinking about you. Please post again after your visit to the hematologist/oncologist.
