my gf now has bfs...i didn't think it could be spread, but not really much else of an explanation...she def has it...i see it and the sleep starts too...anyone else have a spouse that got it...maybe a herpes type virus could cause this?

I tried to post about this very thing about two times on here and everyone acted like I was nuts, LOL. I think I was told to calm down, But I'm not going to tell you to calm down because my husband has it too, and a close friend of mine on here, her son has it as well. Theres another close friend on here and his wife has it, and i believe Bailyloves posted a while back that he was worried his wife had it. So yeah, I get where you are coming from, not sure what to make of it though. It scares me a little that this stuff may be spread because I dont want to see my two young boys with this.Let me know if you have any more theories.Take careRobynn :D)

if what I have can be transmitted it's only through sex, that's why I was suggesting a herpes type virus....i will get tested and let you know.

trying not to jump to any conclusions cause I've been wrong before but it is worth investigating....it would explain the "flare ups"

If u c ,i have posted same thread few mnths ago & bunch of people responded.Sure, wife has but in low frequency mostly single ones but yesterday she had fasci on thumb pad which lasted for a min &i could c it for first time.Surprisingly my mother too had random facial twitches last week.I dont know what this stuff is but but one thing is sure ,its not als(this is not d way als comes & it gives me pleasure).......baily.

Oh my goodness....this might be a possibility. I have been wondering this. I have had shingles in the past, around about 2005. If I am not mistaken this is a Herpes type virus too. From what I have heard, you can only get shingles if you have had chicken pox in the past (doesn't mean that you will get shingles just because you had chickenpox, just those that have never had chicken pox can't get shingles) So this happens because of some virus you carry after having the chicken pox. It lead me to wonder if maybe this virus I have could have gotten into my nervous system somehow. I only wondered this because doctors speculate about BFS possibly have a virus connection. Also, my husband and children have all been letting me know " hey, I am twitching" with the kids, it's still within the normal range, I wouldn't consider it BFS , but I thought maybe they were noticing it more because I talk about it all the time. My husband twitches a lot now though, he has a little after I started. It's nothing like us, but still more than the kids. I didn't know if maybe he was having it happen because of me constantly crying about it or what. I just asked him what he thought and if he thinks he has been twitching more and he says "na" but he is so laid back. He wouldn't care if the doctor told him he was dying. This is so interesting. Let us know what the doc says....Tanya

my gf has it full blown and started like mine...yes shingles is a herpes type virus...i never told her how mine started so she couldn't even be making it up...not to mention her visible muscle twitches on calves.

My wife has the twitches in her legs and forearms, But she don't seem to be bothered by them as much as I am. She also is starting to have internal tremors. This is a little odd.By the way my 8 year old son had a twitch in his eye and came running in the living room saying"Oh no dad you gave them to me. His only lasted a few hours Thank God.

From what I read early on, herpes virus can definitely cause neurological issues. None of my family members fasciculate, but I don't discount the possibility for others.Take care, gary

I absolutely GUARANTEE that you have HSV and that you have given it to the g/f. I got infected 8 or 9 months ago and the BFS was the last in a whole line of neurological problems this virus has caused me. I'm about to trial a new drug that I'm hoping will help rid some of the virus in my body.

I just dont know that it is herpes that causes BFS. There are way too many people in the world who have herpes and dont have or get BFS and there are a very large amount of people on here who have BFS and dont have herpes. So I'm not sure I bye this theory, but I do think BFShopfull is on to something with saying a herpes LIKE virus or maybe just some low level, undetectable virus.Take careRobynn :D)

I didn't think I had it either because I never broke out...but come to find out my ex tested positive for it recently...i think all of our symptoms come from 1 of 3 things....stress....virus...certain antibiotic use...they all three seem to do the same thing...if I test pos for hsv and so does my gf I will really have to consider it as a probable cause aggravated by stress.

Same here (my wife). However, it may be argued that mentioning may increase awareness and, maybe, the problem is not uncommon at all.

Very interesting. I tested positive for hsv about 3 years ago. My husband has not been tested as far as I know. It's crossed my mind that the twitching we (and his doctors) have been attributing to Myasthenia Gravis may, in fact, be caused by something entirely different. Initially I thought it might be some toxin in our house or perhaps something in our well water. It just seems odd that we would both be twitching like this? Since his immune system is already compromised it only makes sense that it would affect him first. But it has been years since he began twitching. The hsv theory certainly seems plausible.

There seem to be a lot of people on here that tested positive for HSV and I am not talking about the HSV-1 occasional cold sore type either. I went through the same toxic thing you did and found nothing. I had the heavy metal testing and toxin testing etc. etc. Nothing came up. MG can cause twitching, mostly the medication that binds the nerves does this. I only know cause a good friend of mine has it. I think we may be on to something here for some of us at least. I never want to say for sure, because like I stated before I've been wrong before. I will keep everyone updated on my test results.

do a search on the forum about herpes, there has been an extreme amount of posts dedicated to it. i believe that it certainly could be the cause for some on this board, but not everyone. that is the crazy thing about bfs, there seems to be no common cause....the body is such a complicated creation.take care, gary
