    Welcome Newbie - Widespread Twitching

I don't know of any neurologist that will poke the same muscle twice on an EMG. Individual muslces on seperate parts of the body are innervated by different nerves; therefore, if you have something wrong with that 'nerve' it will show up on the needle stick regardless of where in the muscle it...

    Exploring Hypocalcemia Cause

Alien, Parathyroid disorders are in fact related to Hypocalcemia, and which is also what I was referring to. I am convinced that some of you may have a form of this that believe it or not, is related to anxiety. If you have anymore information, let me know.

    Thyroid Issues: Muscle Twitches

It seems as if my post turned into a reality check for myself and a lot of others. As far as the twitching...it is really at an all time high in my face (now particularly on the side of my nose going at a constant beating rate and very fast to the point that it feels like someone is pulling the...

Sharing Troubling Symptoms: Eyelids & Eyes

Also, it seems like one side of my face is drooping a little bit. I don't know if it was always like that, or just because I am worrying about something new now (i.e. - bad brain tumor).

Sharing Troubling Symptoms: Eyelids & Eyes

Hello to everyone. I have been doing alright mentally since I last posted; however, my symptoms have persisted. The swallowing difficulties are not here anymore thank God, and the speech is back to normal. Let me ask about these new troubling symptoms: 1. My eyelids and around my eyes are...

About My EMG - One final word to help everyone out there

My EMG was conducted by a young doctor from Harvard who was education at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. During the EMG he told me that there was maybe a fasciculation in my leg; however, on the report no fasciculations were noted according to him. He stuck my tongue, my thoraic paraspinals...

    EMG Results - Any News?

I got an EMG of a lot of muscles and this time they tested the paraspinals, tongue, and face as well. At the time I was taking it the doctor said everything looked stellar and I did NOT have anything serious. I doubt he would lie to me. He did find a fasciculation or two in my leg though. When...

    EMG Scheduled: Chewing Difficulties/Twitches

Hello everyone. I haven't been here for a while as I have been pretty busy. I have officially gone over the edge with worrying myself to death, and I have another EMG scheduled for Wednesday morning. I have been having some difficulties chewing, and after every meal my jaws will twitch crazy and...

Options: 1. Difficulty Swallowing, Excessive Fascics? 2. Serious Throat Issues, Viral? 3. Trouble Swallowing, Jaw/Lip Fascics?

Hey again, I hope everyone is doing alright. I have a couple of questions as I have not been doing too good during the last few days. Has anyone experienced literal trouble swallowing and excessive fascics on the jaw and lip muscles as well as tongue? I am starting to think that if I don't have...

    Accepting Benign ALS Symptoms

Hi, i just got back from my neuro. I have symptoms for almost 8 months now and he did the exam, reflexes and a quick EMG of the most twitching muscles. Everthing was perfectly normal. He said twitches and other symptoms are benign. I think it is time for me to accept that i do not have ALS...

Left Leg Pain and Weakness 4+ Months

Thanks for your support and replies. The problem is definitely not psychological or anxiety related. I do get kicked in the rear by my wife (a physician) to exercise but does one exercise with pain ? Amy : what you talk about is disuse atrophy (that starts setting in within 2 weeks...

    Just Me - Doing That?

This is a great question! Yes, I had hoped for an MS diagnosis when I was at my worst (both with my symptom severity and with my mental anguish of not knowing what in the world was going on with my body, and having no answers to boot). I remember thinking, "well if it's MS, then at least I...

Twitching for 3.5 Years, Anxiety & Tongue Twitches

I will answer all your questions in order... I am not a doctor, I am pre-med at Johns Hopkins and a research fellow at Harvard. So I, too, experience anxiety regardless of how much I convince myself. 1. What all symptoms do you have, and how long? I initially experienced widespread...

    Tongue Fascics: Worrisome?

Tongue fasciculations are often described as 'ripple-like' movements of the tongue at rest or mild protrusion; however, I HATE this definition of it because it is extremely flawed. First of all, everyone's tongue has a ripple-effect to it while it is at rest (especially after eating or talking -...

    Question about Goody Headache Powder

There is some research that is very interesting that I have read about familial ALS (roughly 7-9% of all cases). This research raises the question on what triggers the motor neuron disease itself. I'm sure most of you have read about the Gulf War cases and an apparent higher incidence in Gulf...

    Celebrating Cutting-Edge Stem Cell Studies

I conducted research on stem cells (Adult mostly) at Johns Hopkins. At Harvard I will be working with embryonic stem cells. My advisor at Harvard is a leader in the industry and I have only spoken with him twice. He is very optimistic about the research and believes that we are a fwe years away...

    EMG Test Anxiety: Sunday Night

I am posting this on Sunday night because I am rather restless. My first EMG, and hopefully the end of this madness. I am really suffering now, but I am trying to keep my head together with thoughts like - You are 19 with no family history of ***, etc. Please keep me in your thoughts on Monday...

Checking in - How Are You?

I have the swallowing issues really bad. It kind of feels like I have to take two or three swallows to get my food down. My jaw gets fatigued as well, and makes my head hurt (weird).
