Understanding Brisk vs Hyperreflexia

All I can say is that my neuro told me there is a difference between brisk and pathologically brisk (hyperreflexia). He said it is important (if possible) to know the "baseline" reflexes of a patient because change in reflexes is a red flag.

Mine are very brisk 3+++, all over, and symetric. Mine have been this way for years. On the other hand, my husband barely has any reflex response (anywhere) and his have been this way since high school.

I do know that when I am more anxious, mine are scary brisk (to me, at least) and I'm ALWAYS anxious at the doc's office!

I have run across a little video comparing anormal to brisk reflex. I actually felt much more confident after watching this.

Hope this helps someone..
