Twitching Without Feeling: Help!

Hey all, I have done a bit of searching on this and only found a few things. How many people here have twitching they can't feel? I have this primarily in my feet (like 24/7 since the beginning) and sometimes in my calves. I think however, I might have become a professional at finding twitches that can't be felt. I'd say they are probably more common in most people here but maybe ya's haven't seen them. The reason I say this is that I have been able to find them in my mother (as bad as mine at times but not as often though and in my partner as well sometimes to a lesser extent). If seeing twitches causes concern for you, please don't read on there is no point but I thought it might be good to compare that we are all the same, etc.So basically, I was reading about neuros sometimes having a special light to detect twitching. I tried shining a light on parts to see and this didn't really work. The trick however is the line of shadows. If a twitch happens across a line of shadow it can be CLEARLY seen because of the contrast. So for example, shine your phone light over your foot (big toe side of foot). The foot is the easiest place to do because its easy to create a full valley of shadows (rather than 1 straight line). If I do this I see little grapepie and movements consistently. Anyone else?I might upload a video. I see this in my calves sometimes to.

Yes, I used to be able to do this with my thenar and my calves, meaning I could see them faintly with a flashlight or in direct sun but I couldnt see them. My neuros were not concerned with this bit of info. I suspect its quite common.

I suspect it is common. I have seen this just a bit with me and it increased my anxiety. So, I quit looking. I have quit examining and even wear long sleeves when I can because my wrists and forearms look different to me than when all this began. My hands also, but they are harder to cover up of course. I notice my anxiety greatly decrease since I resist the urge to examine my body. Sometimes I wonder if this syndrome does actually change the appearance of body parts, still benign, but causes needless extra concern. Try to stop looking for things, it makes no difference.

Yes, in BFS many twitches can be felt and many can't be felt. Some twitches can be felt but not seen, some can be seen but not felt, and some can be neither seen nor felt (I think this is true but I can't see or feel those ;)). Its all fine and dandy to discuss and ponder except when peeps start getting concerned about any of these twitches. They're all meaningless.

Hmm... Well this sort of helps but some people here seem quite different. Most people seem to say this happens to them sometimes. But can anyone else here reliably say that WHENEVER they check a muscle there are always twitches they can't feel popping off all over the muscle? This has been happening in my feet for 2 months and reliably in my calves for the last 3 days. Always happening when I check. They are little pops in all difference places on the muscle. We are talking minimum of 1 a second but up to a few a second.Would be re-assuring to hear, thanks all.

It is absolutely normal to have up to 100 or more faciculations per minute in the arches of your feet., no matter if you have BFS or not. Approx. 99% of people don't know about them because they don't feel them AND have other hobbies than watching their feet with strobe lights. There are scientific studies that show this.

Wow Chrissi this is really interesting! Where did you find out about this? I do believe cause as I said I have seen it on my mum to the same level as mine (But not every time we've looked). And my fiance doesn't really have it but you might see a couple twitches go off.Does this also include your calves? My calves only started doing this reliably recently. I suppose BFS would make me more sensitive to this so much assumption was that other people with BFS would be twitching constantly in these places as well.
