HiDont know if this is what i have, (BFS) but i have had about 2 weeks a noticeable (to me ) twitching tounge, its there all the time and has slightly affected my speech, cannot pronounce s's etc This has thrown me into bad anxiety and feel depressed....i have seen my gp who has diagnosed thrush and i know its not that as i had that before many years ago and then he said it was reflux....i know its not that either as i suffer with reflux way to long to know....i have had this twitch briefly before as in its lasted a morning till im up and about.....then gone......i am totally freaked out (sorry) but my gp's dismissive way has made me worse...i went to a walk in centre last night just to get another opinion...they couldnt do anything as they are for cuts and bruises type ailments but at least he said to me your gp should at least have ordered some blood works...you need screening.....i cannot get another appointment with my gp for another 2 weeks meanwhile im a wreck thats good to no one. I cant talk with anyone who would understand as i dont know anyone else who's had this.........when i am trying to get to sleep it clicks and clicks and scares me...any advise pleeease thank you so much in advance....X

Sorry that I can not give you any insight into the tongue twitches as I have not had that one..yet. Know that lots of people on this forum have them and they turn out not to be anything sinister. I would however push my doctor to further evaluate if I thought it were necessary. Do not let them just dismiss you. You will find lots of posts about tongue twitches if you use search on this forum. Just know you are not alone.

Hi Snookie, having BFS means that your nerves are hyperexcited in ALL your body. So they can make every muscle twitch, including your tongue. I had phases where my tongue twitched too, and I know a lot of other members that had this. No reason to worry. Many members get problems at a certain point with T's and S's pronounciation as well as tongue stiffness and swallowing issues. This is part of BFS.

Snookie,I agree with what the others are telling you. I get tongue twitches every day. Big zaps, little zaps, flutters... every kind of tongue twitch. The problem you are having with your s's are also very very common on here. Please try to relax and try to get back with your doctor for your own reassurance. -Matt

Hey,You aren't alone. I went into my doctor today because my tongue has been fasciculating so bad and she was like "yep there it is!" Her concern? None. You do not have ALS, you will be fine.

Hi Snookie, a fellow tongue twitcher here ....seen neuro 3 times he is not in the slightest worried about it...as Matt said see your dr for that reassurance and then try to relax....best wishes shannon

Hi Tessa, Chrissi, Bobajojo, Ucdguy88,LeslieLuvThank you all for your replies, i do from time to time get other twitches in other places ... my eyelids are common i had my right upper eyelid twitch on and off since xmas till just recently... it stopped and now in my tongue.....i had a very brief moment last night watching tv where it paused :) ....i didn't want to move....i had to ask hubby to look...and he said your speach is ok, too...it was but only for a short time its back all day today :( sounds as if im wearing dentures when im not ...... I have had other neuro probs on off for years due to i was told a variant migraine by neuro........... just want to get past my gp as he will be so reluctant to refer me back to my neuro as i had a few better years of milder symptoms......hope u all have a good day.....i will post some other q's if thats ok....x

Snookie,Sounds like BFS to me! Getting tongue twitching is no more worrisome than other muscle twitches. The fact that you get occasional twitches elsewhere just further confirms the benign nature of your symptoms. No worries.

Hi Snookie, the speech thing is the worst. I have made similar experiences. I only rarely have tongue twitches, but stiff tongue and difficulties to speak I know very well. So you are not alone. I have been to two neurologists and both said that it is benign. It is scary, but benign. One neurologist gave it to me written in a letter: "Diagnose: Benignes Faszikulationssyndrom"
