Twitching, Tingling, and Aching.

well my names kate.i basically had a baby 6 months ago and since he was born i have been twitching all over and tingling.it started in my back.its horrible.sometimes one after another sometimes an hour in between.sometime my whole limb jerks.my whole body aches .im so fed up.have been to the doctor every week about it.he did some bloods, came back normal apart from calcium being abit low.went to a neurologist who tested my reflexes, looked at my tongue and asked me some questions and said "its just you" and sent me on my way.really not happy.i thought they would do an mri or emg atleast.went back my docs tonight "wait another week" he said and gave me a form to fill in about depression.he did mention anxierty.of course im anxious.whats with the twitching? have i got some serious life threatening disease?.so fed up.

Hi Kate, Sorry to hear you are struggling...Anyway, let's look at one positive here, you have seen a neuro, even if you did not feel like they were being the most helpful if they thought for a second that you had anything bad going on they would have told you and ordered some tests, not just sent you on your way.... This is a good thing..What you describe does not sound out of place here at all.. Why don't you tell a little more about where you get the twitches the most etc and the tingling/ sensory problems, you will then likley get replys from others who have had or still have similar..All the best..

hi ippo thanks for your reply. it has helped me a little but a clean mri,emg would push my worries away, not completly but i would be loads happier.well my twitches are all over.for some reason i hardley get them above my shoulders.mostly in my arms, back, leg, belly, abdomen, feet, toes, calves, etc.the tingling is in my legs.

Classic BFS case, no worries Kate. And it really is true that if your doctors are not concerned then you shouldnt be either. No weakness, no reflex changes is excellent and proves almost by itself that you have nothing nasty going on, even though BFS is its own pain in the a*s syndrome. Feel free to unload any fears or concerns you may have here. We are here to listen and support.Take CareRobynn :D)

Maybe, mine started shortly after having a baby then a nasty virus, could have been either one really. Was your delivery particularly difficult for any reason?? Where you very stressed during the pregancy?? Were you sick with any virus during the pregancy??

i was quite stressed throughout pregnancy as had alot of bleeding, then got told my baby may not survive birth due to chromosone abnormalites, then went into labour at 33 weeks.happy to say baby was healthy and is a chubby 6month old now.however 3 days after having him i was rushed back in as had a womb infecton.still having pain in my lower abdomen which the docs thinks is damaged nerves but this is making me anxious

Will leave your girls to debate the potential birth as a trigger..Well I twitch in many places, just like you have described, I can get sensory issues also, mostly in legs.. So you are not along there, also Robynn has these also, so we have had and have these issues also.I do understand you wanting clean tests, I have been there beleive me... But please try and trust your doctors and don't stress about it (I know easier said than done). Keep positive...

Just seen your post about your giving birth, pleased all was ok in the end...There are those that beleive stress can trigger these kind of things, so coupled with an internal infection these issues combined may well have set your nervous system on a merry go round...

I totally agree with Ippo, I think you were just kinda like me, what I call the perfect storm so to speak. Stressful pregnancy, traumatic delivery, infection, then more stress then BOOM!! You have several ingredients to develop something like BFS. If you ever want to compare notes feel free to PM me, I would be happy to chat.Take CareRobynn :D) P.S. You will be fine, you are not alone, and your symptoms do not point to anything scary even though they feel like it.
