I'm cetrain I got tongue atrophy. At the left side of my tongue I have a constant twitch / tickling so I stook out my tongue an looked at it. At that part there is a dent!!!! I looked up pictures of tongue athropy, looked exaclty like mine! I'm sure now I got what I was afraid off, this is *** no doubt about it! Also there the cheeck feels weird/numb.So I guess I'll be that 1 in a million, someone had to be it and it's me!!! All the neuro's that I saw, they were wrong!!!

Bart, Bart, Bart...Could you try to trust the Neuro? Tongue atrophy is a big thing...You just can't have tongue atrophy now and having been seen by a Neuro, even 3 months ago, with a clear exam. Clinical exam....Leave alone the EMG.This would imply that not just your Neuro(s) was an idiot, but also that you must have something that yet has to be described.Go back to read your old posts!!!You're going to be fine, despite BFS is a challenge for anyone!

Hi BartI have dents on my tongue from where it rests against my teeth. A lot of people have that. I'm sure you're fine. Don't get into a panic. Your neuro would have noticed it. Didn't you say that your neuro told you what they look for on a tongue. I remember you said you wouldn't say what it was so we all wouldn't be looking in the mirror. So your last neuro appointment your tongue was checked and nothing found.Sandra

I also have dents on the side of my tongue.... I think a ton of people do....still nothing to worry about. Your cheek feels numb b/c you are thinking about it so much! You have got to calm down, I can guarantee you that ALL those neuros were NOT wrong about your dx!!!

Bart sweetie: Get hold of yourself. You have gotten the most wonderful neuro reports and they WERE NOT wrong. Um, I don't know if this will help or not, but if you had tongue atrophy you probably wouldn't be ABLE to stick your tongue out. I have been dealing with tongue twitching lately too and it scares me too. Sooner or later we will get a grip on this. Hang in there buddie---don't be too quick to think you are the exception to the rule.BlessingsCindy

Bart, my friend,Here's what you wrote on June 4th: "I explained my fear for bulbar als so he did a clinical in my mouth, tongue and neck. All fine he said." You've been twitching all over--IF it was ALS, your doctors and the EMGs you've had would have detected it, even if it was "bulbar onset." Follow the advice you gave us in your great post following your last doctor's visit--don't go sticking your tongue out and stand in front of the mirror. You are OK--26 days ago, a highly qualified doctor cleared you--once and for all!BTW--I just survived another cancer scare this week; second one in 18 months. Funny, even though my anxiety was sky-high, I didn't think about--or feel--my twitching. Now I suppose I could believe my doctor misread my test or is a quack and keep worrying like I did with the twitching, at first. But I'm not! And in the case of all this twitching, neither you nor I nor anyone else here is or will be that one-in-a-million exception your fear. You've seen too many docs, had too many tests and have been twitching too long without REAL problems--you are OK!Mark
