Struggling With Hand Twitching and Grip

I've being doing so well for the last three months. Most of my twitching has really subsided, with only mild twitches in my left calve muscle from time to time. But just this morning, the hand muscle between my right thumb and forefinger has developed an intermittent twitch (going on 2 hours). The scary part is this is causing my right thumb to move each time the hand muscle twitches. My grip still seems to be ok, but I'm afraid the use of my right hand will be impaired if this keeps up.Yes, I know I should accept this, as part of the ever evolving development of this condition. Yes, i should accept my clean EMG, MRI, nerve conductance test, and clinical exam. However, everything else (twitches, burning, tingles, myoclonus jerks at bed time) have been on the decline since earlier this summer. But like many on here, I just can't shrug this off. The scary part is watching my thumb move uncontrollably. I haven't had this kind of experience since all this started ove a year ago.Has anyone else had this hand muscle twitch, causing movement of a thumb or other fingers? Thanks for any reassurance.

Yep I did. I think many other people too had it, becasue I often had seen that symptom mentioned in the posts here. It is same zero sinister effect on your body as other twitches. From your post it seems like 'you know you should accept' but in fact you didn't :((( which is sad.BFS comes and goes and comes and goes. That is how it works. You have bouts and periods of relief and again bouts, but they do not damage you physically. You must not only accept BFS when it subsides, but also during the flareup. It is hard but... what are other options?

Absolutely. I really think this is one of the most common areas to twitch. Mine went for almost two months continuously, and now only occasionally (crossing fingers that it stays that way!).

Hey, About 10 years ago my right thumb started to twitch / move slightly on its own when I was relaxed... it was like a constant beat up and down... I think it stayed for months... I was only about 22 or something so I really didn't worry too much about it ...I put it down to irritation... i had a top / hoody that had thumb holes and I think it caused irritation and made the twitch... it was over 10 years ago.. so Don`t worry.. Maybe you can think of something that you've done that`s caused it?I do twitch all over from time to time but I really twitch when I am going through health anxiety scares !! My current tongue twitch I am think is down to an irritation by poking at my teeth and I reckon I've hurt the tip.... I only started twitching everywhere when I started to get big anxiety and adrenaline rushes due to the worry...

Burger,A thumb "pull" is a great way to describe this movement. The muscle twitch between the thumb and forefinger seems to be what causes the pull. Very weird. Especially since it appeared that most of my craziest symptoms have subsided greatly over the past 3 months. I almost forgot about BFS altogether, until this morning. I appreciate you sharing your experience on this one.

Emmie I'm glad I heard someone else has had twitches on a hot spot that keep going that they can't feel... My tricep has been at it for a few days and I can see most of them but some I feel and some I don't... And it's a slower twitch than my regulars ! It actually feels like its going to be crampy but never really does thank goodness... Any others that see them and don't feel them on a hot spot?

When I was first DX with BFS a few years ago, this was one of my symptoms. I could actually see my thumb & finger moving, it really worried me at the time, so I know exactly where you are coming from. But trust your MD's, if they had any inclination that something was wrong with you, you would know about it. I know this is easy to say, (and I should take my own advice, lol) but try to relax and not worry so much. Anxiety makes our symptoms a lot worse.

I believe I made a similar post in August, I did a upper body weight routine. The next day, same twitch as yours happened to me and didn't stop for three days. I've not seen it since. It ran up my anxiety for sure but it subsided. I still have hundreds of twitches daily and I still get twitches in New spots.

I done that Emmie.... But still nice to hear it fresh from another person. My tongue has calmed down a fair bit and not twitching as often but still at it and I feel like I am not pronouncing certain things right, usually words with "S" on the end... But no one can here it..The right tricep is pulsing in and out pretty much all the time... its when I look at it and cant feel it that freaked me out !! still kinda does but I can see alot of other people do get that including you..
