Nine Years of Benign Fascs: Reflections from Croatia

Dear all members,Today is exactly nine years since my benign fascs began. I am alive, not very happy from another reasons but I am not in fear about ALS or similar disease . Faster and stronger than most common men in my age, i.e. 56+. Twitching are almost gone from everywhere except calves. Cramps showed up from time to time. Vanished when drunk water with Mg (300 mg daily ). Greetings from Croatia. Everyone may e-mail me if want to anytime:

Nine years and still alive, who'd a thunk it :)Surprise surprise so am I, though the twitching is still there on and off, my right biceps were having a good go yesterday evening when I was playing the flute. Playing the flute you may ask? When I thought I'd be pushing up daisies well before now! but then I have only been on the list 6 years. Playing the flute and digging a vegetable plot, but obviously not at the same time.

I love having you long-term vets come and give updates once in a while. I hope we all continue to do so. I'm about 20 months into this thing, and promise to give my 2,3,4,etc. year updates. It's so relieving to hear when you're brand new to all of this.

Went to my doctor just before Christmas, and we talked about my twitching. I thought I had first seen him 13 years ago about the fasciculations. When he consulted his records, turns out it was 14 years ago (almost 15 now). How time flies...

You guys are like our own Mayo Clinic study on BFS. Still twitchin' away, yet still just fine. You're an inspiration to me (since comparatively, I'm still new into this with almost 2 years under my belt), but this is HUGE for new people on this board looking for reassurance.

Yah! We keep on keepin on. It's my 8th year - 7 since my Dx. Had some new developments and thought of all my fellow weirdos  here and decided to see who was still around so glad you old-timers decided to post. Normally, my symptoms are mostly gone, not entirely but enough that I can ignore them when they do show up knowing that they will cycle from time to time. Lately I've had a flare and they discovered I'm ANA positive (won't go into this - it's a complicated story and not very amusing) which means my immune system is a little whack but I can't help wondering if it was in part some of the problem when I did have consistent BFS symptoms. I did get some of the inexplicable fatigue and muscle tension out of nowhere plus some sensations. I'm dealing with it: more frequent meditation, better diet & sleep, light frequent exercise rather than strenuous = basically focusing on boosting my immune system. It's getting better, or rather I'm feeling better. I'm glad to hear news from other old-time BFS'ers - wishing you all the best.
