Need Help with Swallowing/ Saliva Issues

I posted this on support group...but got no answers...Someone please let me know...


Are there any BFSrrs that have difficulty swallowing. I am going crazy over this issue, food will get stuck in my throat and feel like it is not going down all the way. Also it seems while I am just siting there saliva seems to irritate my throat and I aspirate and cough quite often. This coupled with tongue fasciculations kind of scares me. But being 19, I try not to worry too much. I do tend to be rather neurotic though If any BFSrrs have this problem, please let me know.

You might want to try to use the search option. I've read more than a few accounts of people with BFS having swallowing concerns.

ummm i donno.. i would see a neuro.. i never heard of swallowing problems with bfs unless is assoiated with anxiety. i have tongue fasciculations sometimes.. but rare

I have not had any swallowing problems; however, I do think that many on this board who suffer from anxiety do. Perhaps if you are overly anxious over the condition it could be causing your problems.

I also wanted to ask about your tongue fasciculations since they seem to be causing so much concern. You may already be aware of this (pre med, right?) but according to my neuro. tongue fascics. are to be checked when the tongue is in a completely relaxed state on the floor of your mouth. He said that just about everyone's tongue will move or twitch when it is extended. He also said that the fascics. would look like a big worm or wave of the tongue. Just an fyi in case you were checking your sticking your tongue out to check in the mirror! Hopefully brought you some help.
