Long-Term Albuterol Use Effects

I wonder if the long use of albuterol or other inhalers can cause this stuff???

I have asthma and was overusing albuterol and my doctor said that could be a cause and when I looked up twitching, that was listed as a possible cause. However, my doctor adjusted my meds and I barely use it anymore, but still twitch, some days worse than others.

I have had asthma my whole life (30 years), and started using an inhaler when I was about 12 I believe....

I have asthma my whole life.

I am using the inhaler like hell ( ia lso smoke- I must give it up)
My neuro said since he cannot find anything clinically he guesses that the inhaler may be the problem.

When I started twitching in december, my Doctor wondered if it might be due to over-use of my Ventolin (Albuterol) inhaler. Apparently, a certain chemical imbalance (due to overuse of inhalers) can be one possible cause of twitching. She sent me for a blood test, but that was not the answer.

She then suggested that since my asthma (which I have suffered from since age 5) was not serious, that I might be over-using my inhaler due to anxiety!

I tend to agree with her. It all "fits". Asthma is triggered by anxiety and I think the twitches are anxiety related too.
