So i have been reading and posting on here off and on for over a year now. Just when I think my fears are over and I am fine and just live with BFS...BAM another twitch. This last one really has me scared...enogh when it happened at work I turned ghost white and a co-worker asked if I was ok. My middle finger on my right hand suddenly started twitching/spasm. It was pulling in towards my palm, I would try and shake my hand and it didnt help...It lasted for 30 or 40 seconds then stoped...Has anybody elese had this my fears of parkinson's has returned. Please respond and thanks!!! Andrew

Andrew, This happens to me often. Sometimes its the finger, sometimes the thumb. Many people with this condition experience this.Steve

Hi, almost bet you were doing some handwork during that issue stretching your palm (even holding a heavy thing is enough). This condition is ususally called spasmophilia, and it can happen at various conditions, mostly in two cases: if you have quite low Ca due to parathyroid glands troubles or other conditions, or if your muscles are hyperexcited (ulitmate form of spasmophilia could be seen in tetanus, for example, when even slightest movement causes severe spasms. Epilepsy is another cause of spasmophilia, but generally it is not considered as dangerous even in people with parathyreoiditis.People with spasmophilia often complain that any simple movement of palm causes middle fingers coming to the palm. I do have it, I think due to bot low Ca and hyperexcitation, and this year it was so prominent that my foot was really painfully jerking just because I was trying to put a shoe on, etc.I would like to say that for whatever reason it happened to you, in no way it is Parkinson symptome. Parkinsonic people have troubles with starting movement, they have frequent very specifc tremors (I'we seen them in the course I was taking online), postural rigidity, etc. - but not sudden spasms like in spasmophilia.

In fact if was a fasciculation of 2nd dorsal interosseus muscle (on the top of your hand). 30-40 seconds? I had it for a month! If you clench your fist really firmly, you most likely get few twitches there again.

Thanks for the response you all!! It really helps hearing that other people on here get the same kind of twitches. Guess I need to learn to stop worrying when I get a little finger twitch, but easier said than done.
