Left Arm Numbness and Twitching

That's weird. Just before I started twitching I was waking up frequently with my left arm numb like a hunk of ham - I thought it had just fallen asleep but perhaps not.

Something to remember about ulnar neuritis (and carpal tunnel as well) is that they don't show up on EMG for a few weeks after symptoms start. This is the opposite of A/L/S, which typically shows up on EMG before symptoms start. Ulnar neuritis can cause twitching, as can any neuropathy that affects motor neurons.

Having said that, I had similar symptoms. When my twitching started, I had a lot of ulnar nerve issues, to the extent that my neuro said I should wear a wrist brace and try to keep my arm straight during sleep. My ulnar nerve issues have gotten somewhat better over the past year, though the twitching remains (at a lower level, though).

You should make sure you don't have mechanical irritation of the ulnar nerve, which can cause weakness in your hand (it's like carpal tunnel, but on a different nerve). Ulnar neuritis is very treatable, so keep up with your neuro to make sure you're doing what you need to in order to keep your ulnar nerve happy.

I've been diagnosed with a bursitis and plantar fasiculitis (as you can tell, I have no idea how to spell these things). These are both joint inflamation issues. I also am starting to crack, crack, crack. Anyone else? Sometimes I feel like I will loose my ability to walk because of the cracking and joint pain. Maybe something is going on with my connective tissue?

just got back from docs office he put me on nueotin and steroids for inflamation Im really scared about taking the streroids for my arm what exactly is burcitise ,cant spell, and what are the symptoms ,Ive also noticed my left arm is way more defined and has less fat ,Im not weak i do have tremmors my doctor says no to body parts are the same ,am I just being paranoid?

is simply an inflammation of the bursae (sacs) that help lubricate and cushion your joints. It's incredibly common, particularly in the shoulder and elbow, and can be painful. It's in no way life-threatening.

You're not being paranoid, but you have nothing to fear from bursitis beyond some pain and restricted motion. Bursitis is an "aging disease" that's more common as we age, but it's just annoying—nothing more.

One of my shoulders is more developed than the other. My Dr. has said that it is probably just my dominate side. It still worries me, though. We're all different. If it really bothers you, go to another dr. and let them reassure you.

The onset of my sever leg muscle twitching was accompanied by Ulnar neuropathy-like symptms. That was almost six years ago. Now, I no longer have ulnar problems, but the twitching remains.

Hi,
It is a long time ago I posted in this Forum, but I have to respond on this. I think it was a few weeks before the twitches I had numb fingers and arm(s) in the night when I waked up in the morning. Also I felt not well, but no fever but very, very tired... Then I was twitching. In the beginning I also had numbness but that disappeared. But the twitching stays... yet for 2 years and 4 month. The last four months I have a flare up. I do not feel well with a lot of neck/shoulder twitches. I have a diagnose of benign twitching but I want to make an EMG for reassurance. I have one planned for half december.
I apologize for my bad English and hope all of you will find peace. Also is it nice to reed messages from old members!
Bye, Eve
