Left Arch Twitching Loss of Mass

Perhaps Sean and Jelota can respond (I did a search on noticed they had gone throught this)I am in a dark, sad place right now. Just took a look at my left arch where I usually twitch 1-4x a day (1,000's of micro / rapid pulses) and noticed a major difference between the right arch. AKA huge dent--looks like the whole thing is gone! My left calve and left leg has less mass than my right when I hold my leg and do stretches...this is undeniable. I also notice that my cramping, or almost cramp, general leg fatigue has only been in my left leg since I started twtiching last May. I have also posted, and it does not seem, that anyone has had a symptom of painful twithes (in only my left calve) that can stop you in your tracks. I have also notice that my left hip (front to back) has a nagging pain and feel certain that this is because my left leg is weakining, and thus the right leg is getting stronger to help support it. Now, for the first time ever, my right arch has started to twitch. I awoke on May 5th with body wide twtiching and can say that I things have gotten worse. I have had a clean EMG last August 7th at the Mayo Clinic, but did not have any of the symptoms I have today, or have been experiencing since December. MRI's of the lower back show a potential for nerver irritation on the RIGHT side. I am very scared and can use some support. Thanks -- Mike

Mike,First I will refer you to the sticky I posted on Dents and Atrophy. You also need to understand that one side will always be somewhat larger or smaller depending on your perspective that the other. I myself have the cramping and twitching and the fatigue. Understand that the muscles will be a bit tired and you will change your gait patterns so yes you change the mechanics of everything so there will be some more compensatory pain and discomfort. A clean EMG my dear is a clean EMG. Your clincial exam was also good. There is no disease process that presents with all over twitching. And if you look to backposts you will see that many people suffer from one side more so than the other which in turn has panicked those who have it on both sides ;) But either way, what you are describing is BFS with the cramp variant. Go back and read BFS in a Nutshell as well. Trust me you are fine.Kit

Mike-I clearly know exactly what you are going through. How long has your foot been twitching? I am going on 2 years for sure in my foot. It has twitched every day, all day non stop for 2 years! You can see the twitches from the big toe back to my ankle and its very frustrating. I have had 2 emg's (one of the foot after 3 months) and everything was clear. My left arch is completely different than my right (where I twitch right in the dented part) and I showed my neuro and he said we have a different muscle structure and never notice till we get these twitches and start doing self exams. My right forearm has a HUGE dent when I flex and my left does not. My left calf is larger than the right and its just crazy what you notice when you start looking at your body. My neuro is one of the top ones here at Ohio State and he said you should NOT be concerned about the twitching in your foot. It is VERY annoying. I bet I literally twitched 100,000 times today and I am NOT kidding. My neuro would not even do an EMG on that foot because you can have nerve damage and the feet are very common areas to twitch in. How long have you had these foot twitches? My right started to twitch for the first time today also. I think that we are focusing on our feet and its putting pressure on our other legs because I pay attention to every single step I take and even tonight I was thinking that my legs are weak while I was going down stairs and walking. Our minds are very powerful and you just have to know that you are ok. I really sometimes cant stand my foot twitching but what else can I do? I started taking Effexor because my Neuro wanted me to and its not really helping. So stay calm and everything is going to be A O.K.

Kit / SeanI hear your stories...it is just hard for me since I made connections to things....which, I know, are very illogical at this point, but it scares the **it out of me. I have complained to my GP for 10 months now of pain / cramping / soreness in my left calve. Full body twitches happened about a month after my first complaint(s). I subesqunetly had an EMG, and at that time, had no idea what they were looking for. It was not until a day later (before I had my results) I looked online and freaked out. To see my left arch visibly dented (I have never really self checked) compared to my right is putting me into a dark place....especially since it twitches like you describe yours. And now my right foot arch has started to twitch along with right calve pain. I have pain radiating into lower left back and hips, and hip socket too. Never had that before and it has been slowly getting worse over the past the past 3 months or so. I just feel weak in my whole leg. I have started to painful-cramp at night in my left calve . I exercize just a bit every week, but the only solace I am grabbing onto is that I can still lift my hole body by left leg toe-lifts 10x's....but man does that bring on pains. I will wait this out as long as I can before I get another EMG, as I am coming on 6 months from my last negative EMG from the Mayo Clinic.Kit, can you move this to the support group?Mike
