Introducing Myself with BFS

I was diagnosed with BFS yesterday and luckily discovered this forum this morning. My symptoms (twitches everywhere, tremors, prickly feeling in legs, jerks) began about two months ago. My MRI was normal as well as the nerve conduction. During the muscle portion of the EMG, the neurologist observed the twitching.

I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. It seems that a fantastic amount of good information has been posted and I’m sure it and the members will be a great help in me in adjusting to my new reality.

Welcome Gail,

You are in good company here. You'll find plenty of fellow BFS'ers who share your symptoms, and they have some great stories too :)

Dave, thanks for the welcome. It will be good for me to be able to communicate what I'm feeling and experiencing to people who understand what it feels like.

This has been a rotten year for me healthwise. In the fall I was diagnosed with asthma (persistent). At first it was thought my shakiness was possibly due to taking an Albuterol puff evey four hours...but no!

I also went almost crazy thinking I might have you-know-what. Some of the posters seem to have trouble letting those thoughts go. I hope I can avoid doing so myself.

Gale,

Yes, "you-know-what" is a big concern for many here. I find comfort in knowing that the odds are hugely against anyone on here actually having "you-know-what". One thing this forum does is to show us all the sheer commonness of this condition we all share, BFS.

exactly. Gale, welcome...and keep those thoughts out of your head. BFS and you know what are not related whatsoever...no way, now how! If anyone here gets it (ever) it would be complete fluke coincidence. The worries are understandable at first, due to the simplistic fact that a web-search on muscle twitches brings up hoards of info on you know what. This site has tons of information to help differentiate BFS as something completely unrelated, and completely benign.

Enjoy our site. It helps tremendously. Even if you have zero worries about you know what, this site will help you through any rough days, mental or physical. This is an awesome place!

Amy,

Thanks for the welcome. I know for sure I'll be a regular here and I'll need help as I adjust to the situation. My immediate "problem" will be adjusting to decaf! Yuk! It will have to be gradual! ;)
