Insurance & BFS: Any Experiences?

Hi,Just curious if any of have applied to increase your life insurance after being diagnosed with BFS? Since generally they will be the most conservative with potential outcome I was interested if it affected premium or approval.T

I cannot believe no one has increased their life insurance with everyone thinking this is a condition that leads to shortened life span. I am curious what the life insurance companies reaction to a condition that really has no cure or explanation on how it starts, and the fact that it mimics conditions of a more serious illness , but yet is harmless.Looks like no one knows the answer??T

What makes you think that we are sitting around thinking this condition leads to a shorten life span, when our neuros and this board have reinforced the opposite, that this condition does not cause a shorten life span?? Sorry just dont understand your question really.

I have never considered BFS would compromise my existence on this earth! Having said that having this anxiety problem ( including health) and associated issues probably doesn't help my chances of getting the letter from the queen! :( Rodger

I actually did increase my life insurance coverage in January of 2008. Mainly because when I got married in 2004 I did not add sufficient coverage and also my wife and I had our first child in January 2008. In January of 2008 I was 5 months into this nonsense and quite honestly still very scared. The medical scare did play a role in motivating me to get off my butt and get this done.I applied to a broker and to State Farm. The insurance broker dragged their feet based on what they read in my medical records. My Neuro offered me a referral to Mayo because he thought the only way I would get over my fear is to hear it from the experts. Anyway, I never went to Mayo. The insurance broker suspended my application and would only reveiw it after I went to Mayo. State Farm approved me right away. I received preferred status and a pretty agressive rate.I am very glad that I did this. CDC

I read the survey and most everyone has been initially or still fearful of ALS. regardless of the forum.Reason#1It you thought the weather showed signs of snow or rain even though the metrologist said it would sunny , you might be inclined to to bring a raincoat.Reason #2This condition has made people fearful of a more serious illness which they don't have, and it might also make them more aware of their own mortality. Hence; they might be inclined to increase Life Insurance.T

Taurus,You're exactly right. This health scare has made me think about life in a whole new way. I would suggest everyone have some sort of life insurance regardless of your health. I wish I had secured a larger policy when I was younger so I would have accessed a lower rate. Unfortunately those are things that I didn't think about before getting married and starting a family.By the way, I remember asking my Neurologist about applying for life insurance and he said you have not been diagnosed with anything. He didn't think I would have any trouble being approved.CDC

This is the first time I have ever saw this question posted here. I did not increase my life insurance. I think if I did it would like admitting that I had some deadly disease.
