Help needed with buzzing sensations

Hey everyone,I could use some advice and words of clarity here. I am a big time twitcher and for the past year and a bit I've had small buzzing sensations on various parts of my body on occasion when I bend my neck, and I'm slowly going crazy thinking I have MS:Bending my neck down:- Sometimes gives me a small buzz feeling on various parts of my body, no shocks down my back or anything like that, no muscle weakness or any major problems- Usually only appears once or twice and disappears, I have now had it in my left hand as a buzz on my middle finger fairly consistently all week (super stressful week)- Sometimes disappears entirely after stretching, or a hot shower- Never have it after lying down or sleeping, seems to only appear when I'm sitting or standing for some time, I cannot reproduce it if I'm horizontal- Usually flares when my back is quite sore, if I have been trying to correct my posture, that kind of thingDoes anybody ever get any kind of weird sensations bending their neck or back? Could this just be a pinched nerve? It's fairly subtle... any advice is very appreciated.

The docs in hospital actually asked me for exact these issues. But I have no correlation between bending my neck and that stuff. They were not thinking of MS at all, it seems to be typical for some other stuff , I think it was called HWS-syndrome in Emilyomouse and means that there is something wrong with your neck spine, either the discs or the muscles are so stiff that all nerves are getting pinched. Did you have an MRT of your neck spine? If it is that, it can be heped by physio therapy.

Chrissi/ JCWest,I have always suspected problems with my neck having something to do with twitching. In the months before my twitching started, I started having headaches in the back of my head and a lot of neck cracking. I don't have buzzing or anything, but somedays it aches just keeping my head upright. If I turn my head to the left, it cracks EVERY TIME. No cracking if I turn my head to the right. My neuro was not very impressed but I am definitely asking him again at my next appt. Sounds like we have different symptoms but in the same area.-Matt

Interesting, yeah I have met a few people online who went in with similar symptoms and it seems they only take it really seriously if you have the electric shock running down your neck, which is so definitive of MS. For me I am really wondering if it's just spinal compression, since it does not show up when I'm laying down in bed, I can almost always trigger it sitting at my computer, but if I wake up in the middle of the night it's just -not- there for whatever reason. Unfortunately I have been fighting the thought of it being something more for so long, coupled with my twitching, that it feels like I'm the only one with this wacky symptom.

I first went in complaining of back of the head and neck pain in February and I left my dr's office with a pamphlet for a "headache-free diet"... even after I told them that my neck cracked every time I turned it and that whenever I sat at my computer I would get sharper pains back there. I was so *beep* that I just threw the pamphlet in the trash. Seriously? Head-ache free diet? My twitching started in May, after 3 months of neck problems. I told my neuro about it and he said that if there was something wrong with my neck that caused twitching, then the twitching would be focused on one area and not widespread. So who knows... neck problems? anxiety?.... it's all a big mystery to me.Someone posted on the facebook BFS page that they noticed Ibuprofin gives them temporary relief from twitching. I haven't tried that yet so I'll give it a shot... although I'm not expecting anything. -Matt

Thanks Bobo, that is interesting. I had read some threads on here from some time ago by people who had something more similar to what I am experiencing, which is pain but more significantly the buzzing sensations. I am just hoping it's one of those symptoms that I'm just convincing myself are MS, when I have no real idea what it could be.

Yes, I've had the neck sensation years ago... I was going crazy thinking I had MS. They told me it was due to very tight neck muscles. I used to have a tendency of laying my chin on my hand (which also cause neck muscles to dislocate). But after doing neck exercises it slowly got better. My advice is to not overextend your neck muscles especially while on the computer and do neck strengthening exercises.

Wow, thank you Tatsu! That makes me feel so much better. This has been on and off for about a year and a half, most of the time it's gone entirely but last week was ultra stressful and I think I pulled a muscle in my neck because since then it's been near constant. It gets better when I lay down and after a hot shower though, so I can only think it's muscular, and not MS related. I am about to go on a big vacation but when I get back it's time to see a doctor about it properly.
