Flexing Muscle Twitching: Good or Bad?

Hey-Wellllllllll. Let me expand on that comment. Here is the thing. I have them 24/7 in several muscles. When I flex they do NOT stop. They keep going and you can see them. I have read that this is worse...etc. BOTH of my neurologists said to me "it does not matter where, how or what type of twitches you have" they are benign. Directly from both of them they said "weakeness is the hallmark" of MND. If you have been twitching over a month and have NO other symptoms (I dont mean perceived weakness, burning, cramps) but I mean WEAKNESS then you are FINE. Both of them reassured me that after a few months of twitching and several negative EMG's they just did them for MY piece of mind. So no "type" of titch is more worrying. I have the bag of worms in my foot and the thumpers all over. Both the neuros saw them and were NOT concerned after my clinical and EMG. So dont worry about what you read, its the neuro that needs to tell you if its good or not. Sean B.

Hey Sean do your neuros actually call it BFS or do they just say "it's benign". I guess what I am getting at is how many docs actually believe in BFS as a condition and not just that the twitching is something benign. Also, just wanted to say we used to live in Dublin, Ohio. Love COLUMBUS!! Linda

Ditto to what Sean said. My neuro said the same thing that it doesn't matter where you twitch, how long, tensed or relaxed muscle etc., it you have been examined and had *** ruled out, then one twitch isn't more worrisome than another.Linda, my neuro just says benign. He doesn't seem to recognize it as a real syndrome which I find unfortunate. :( I kind of used to think that the whole thing was all anxiety induced (like a lot of doctors believe), but now I believe it is a real condition that anxiety can make worse. I think even if I was anxiety free, I'd probably still twitch.
