Fasciculations and Pricks: Help!

Hello all!I am a 23 year old female and I’ve been experiencing fasciculations almost daily ever since I was 17. I’ve seen a few doctors about this and they’ve told me that I shouldn’t worry about them unless I start having some serious symptoms in addition to them. Well, for the past 7 months at least, I occasionally get a weird pricking pain in my hands, face, fingers, and feet. It’s like someone is poking me with a needle. It only lasts a split second. This only happens every once in a while. There are also times when I’m lying down in bed and watching TV when my foot or toe will slightly jerk. It’s not a big jerk, only a little one. It’s like it will just bend slightly to the side. It’s hard to explain but I’m worried that it’s myoclonus.Does anyone else experience these sort of things in addition to fasciculations? I told myself that I would never start worrying that I have Creutzfeld-Jacob Disease or Lyme disease (I already went through the “OMG do I have ALS???!!!” stage) but now I’m scared. What you are explaining is consistent with bfs. I have had the pin prycks everywhere, including my tongue. Finger and toe wobbling (oh, there goes my toe now) is completely part of bfs. I sometimes still jerk, or am a jerk, but at the beginning it happened quite a lot. Have you read bfs in a nutshell, which is at the top of the forum?Any of the nasty stuff you can put away right now; that's one thing I am certain of. ) Basso

Hi EksheI agree with the others who have replied that your new symptom does not sound at all worrying and it does not suggest that there is anything more serious causing your symptoms. If you are still worried though you could get your doc to check you out and this would probably help to reassure you too.All the bestSimon

Hi. It's been a while since I've been on. I started twitching in early September 2008. When you mentioned the prickling feeling like a needle, that brought me back to right before I noticed the twitching. I remember a few nights lying in bed and all of the sudden I would get this stabbing feeling in the tip of a toe. It felt just like someting poked me with a needle. Thought it was strange, as that never had happened before. I never gave it much thought though. It happend a few other times and now happens every once in a while, just in my toes. It somehow must be linked to the bfs, as I started noticing the twitching very soon after these episodes. Hope that helps.Dawn
