Exploring Celiac as an Answer?

In my ongoing search for possible explainations to my symptoms (mild weakness in leg and arms, twitches, chest pain, low back pain, slight slurring of speech) I came across celiac. My question is, could this be it? I realize that people have posted about this before, but does anyone have any fresh input? Does anyone have celiac disease and has gotten better after going on a gluten free diet?

Well, ok. Since there's no action on this thread Iäll tell you what I've found out. First of all: there have been cases where celiac disease mimics als. On man was actually diagnosed with als, but then they found out he had celiac and he got better when he got on a gluten free diet. There are also connections between celiac and thyroid disorders, and we all know that hormone imbalance can cause all sorts of problems. In celiac gluten destroys your small intestine so that you cannot absorb nutritients efficiently. This can obviously cause bowel problems, but adults quite often present without obvious digestive symptoms. Instead they react to all sorts of deficiencies. Therefore they can complain about a whole array of symptoms ranging from, joint pain and muscle weakness to depression and anxiety. From arthritis to diarrhea.Basically, anything you can get from vitamin and mineral deficiencies you can get from celiac. Add the thyroid connection and hormone problems and I guess you can have almost any symptom in the book. I guess twitching could be in the mix, too. There are also no hallmark symptoms for celiac, although a bad stool is a clue ...So, this is something to look into, right? I hear that 1 in 200 have celiac.
