Cycling Club European Ride: GP Opinion?

Hi, I went out with the cycling club today and did 34 miles including having to cary our bikes down the longest wooden escalator in Europe because it was out of order. At the end of the ride I asked one of the riders who is a GP if I was correct in assuming that after 8 weeks of constant twitching I would see weakness by now if I had a nasty disease and would struggle with a ride likes todays.
His response didn't encourage me , he said possibly not and to wait until further testing has been done. After what I've read from you guys I expected him to say that this level of exercise would not be possible if I had 8 weeks of constant twitching from ALS!

Any comments?

Pete, have you considered the possibility that the GP is a d-ick-wad? Or, he may have just had a fight with his girlfriend; which is the last bloody thing he needs when the wife is on his case so bad. He is just a person with a degree. I work at a university, and I meet all kinds like him. They have forgotten their people skills, and have replaced them with what they call, "critical thinking." They hem, haw, splutter, hem again, and then make what sounds like a considered pronouncement.

You are so good, so healthy that I am smiling even now. See... :D)

Where is this escalator? I know that I went on one at a tube station in London, I forget the name now. I think it was the one where they had the big fire-ball. By God, that thing was long, and the rankness of the air...terrible. Elephant and Castle was the worst, though.

Have a good one.

Thanks Diego4Life, that is very reassuring (or maybe not when we put so much faith in these guys).
I think the biggest problem I have is keeping things in perspective and not making the proverbial mountains out of molehills.
