Crazy EMG Story - Normal!

you might think i'm a little bit crazy (because last week i was at the neuromusular specialist and he said i don't need an emg) , but today i called for another emg because my dent really scares me and fortunately i get an appoitment right away. so they did one in my first interosseus muscle and one in my calf were they dent is. and surprise surprise .... it all came back normal. no fascis, no fibs, no psw, normal amplitudes and normal interference pattern. so i think my dent is just a variation of my muscle. i meen it's there and it's not on my other calf but if it was due to *** it would shown up on the emg (she stick the needle right into the dent). or? so i have to come over my fear. but isn't so easy because i'm only 3 months into this twitching-sh***. i will try :D) bye tomato

Tomato,You have to let it go and chill !! Believe me I went through a year of wondering what was going on and then another year of scaring myself *beep* reading internet articles and Dr Google about various nasty, fatal neuromuscular conditions. You have your EMG results and your fine. Let it go or you'll drive yourself insane with What ifs, etc. Twitches can be scary when you dont know whats going on and this forum is a great place for support and adivce (Wish I had discovered it when I was at the height of my anxiety!!) so relax you have been given a normal EMG and go and enjoy yourself.RegardsRyan

I'm curious on what a dent of the muscle looks like, cant find any photos..Any chance of taking a picture and uploading it to show us? And congrats

I don't think that dents are anything to worry about. Have a read of Kit's post of 2007 entitled dents and atrophy. She is a doc and has written good info abot this. I have a calf with a dent in it which I only noticed when I started examining my calves because of the twitching but I bet it is longstanding and due to an old injury.RegardsSimon

my dent has gotten bigger. i will be the first one with a** on this side. the neuromuscular specialist said the dent is due to injury of my claf. but i can't remember and it's getting bigger. i'm so scared :( sorry for my panic

tomato, you had a clean emg last week!!! the muscle with the dent was tested and showed no pathological changes!!!you have to trust in that!!! in my understanding a muscle with no abnormal findings cannot develop someting sinister within a few days... and you can read everywhere that emg changes related to ALS will be present weeks or months before one develpos symptoms of the disease. i know that in the freaking stage of bfs/anxiety your mind can play tricks on you. the more self testing and self-monitoring you do, the more "abnormal" things you will find. you will not be the first oneon this site with the dreaded desease!
