Hi all Blip and back Still have same symptoms as previous posts. Nothing changed there. However I'm really concerned I have hand atrophy Hand: thoughts ?

WHERE? No sing beyiond normal palm structure. One may talk about palm atrophy only when tere is significant depletion of the bulk mass we have notmally between thumb and ibndex finger on the top side of the palm.

It's between the thumb and pointing finger. Dips more than right hand does. I saw some photo on google of a women with mnd who I thought had similar look of extra skin.It freaked me a little :( Thanks for looking

I feel the skin on my palm is thin (if that makes sense" because I can see the joints in my palm move really clearly when I bend a finger I've had some buzzing electric shock feelings in fingers and toes. I know the ulnar nerve is sent at I've because when I itch my arm it sends a shock down my arm to my finger. Sorry, I'm blabbing now x

do you drop things? How is your grip?If those are fine then you are fine.No atrophy from the looks of it -- unless you're hunting for atrophy --

I have posted pictures of my own hands freaking out over similar differences. Mine are slightly more pronounced differences between the left and right palms. Doctors have thought nothing over the differences. I have no weakness between the two hands (my left hand is slightly weaker than my right, but probably always been that way). I get twitches in my palm and flickers in the muscle on the top of my hand between the index finger and thumb when it is in use too. Since I have noticed the palm differences 3 months ago, it does not seem to be changing. Similar to your pain, I get pain at the joint of my index finger and pain "on the bone" at the base of my thumb, palm side. Also have occasional burning sensations, slowly perhaps getting better. Don't know what all of that is, except probably related to BFS. I am learning (very slowly  ) to not worry about it. I have another Neuro follow up in a little over 3 weeks when I will ask again about this hand area and the pain. Didn't mean to make this all about me, was trying to be helpful! Anyway, your hand looks better than mine and since my docs thought nothing of mine, I say try to enjoy your day, think positive thoughts (send some my way too!) and you are fine.

well if you are worried about ALS -- you shouldnt have that fear as pain points away from it.I made a breakthrough myself (well on my towards a breakthrough) the other day.Instead of noticing the DIFFERENCES in my hands -- (like you I feel I have paper thin skin and feel like I can see my joints)I started looking at two things: The differences in other peoples hands (in person, on tv, in print ads)The things that are alike between one persons hands and mine (can see ligaments , thin hands, etc)it has helped alot.

My dear, even when you look at someone's hand and you were told this person has atrophy, how could you say if there is a signof atrophy or personal issue or even common thing? I told you already how the doctros classify if there is an atrophy of the hand muscle or not - they never consider the palm side as it has too much wrinkles naturally. Having thin skin means you have low subcutaneous fat, and that's all, this is not a muscle atrophy.

Back to feeling worried again. Left hand has been giving me trouble for the last 2 weeks at least. Small cramps and aches etc I have previously shown my concern on the palm atrophy But now I feel this has got worse and on the top of my hand to. I can see some muscle between the thumb and finger, but when I move me hand it looks sunken. Getting so annoyed with myself

I'm going to have to do the dreaded video upload. Although I am obviously concerned, my mindset is a bit better so please feel free to give honest opinions. I just feel at a stage where I want to know....then get on with my life. Thank you for reading/watching Is this atrophy:

nice cat :)nope you do not have atrophy of the hand musculature. I had seen decent bulk of the muscles when you place thumb abd index finger together, and this is all that you need to have in a healthy nand.

Haha the cat was wondering what I was doing. Yeah I realise I still have some muscle there. But it seems to be very soft and disappears easily when I move my thumb .Hand obsessed at the moment.

But this is perfectly NORMAl.unless you are a farmer, carpenter etc, and even in those cases thumb moving muscle visible between the thumb abd index finger seldom could be hard and too much bulky :) "disappearance' of this muscle when moving a nahd is essential for proper movement of the thumb - one really should be concerned about not being able to extend the thumb aside and make this area flat (in fact paresis of the hand is accompanied by so called monkey hand - when the thumb gets abducted to the rest of the palm and hardly could be moved aside) - so if you could freely make it flat and bulky again, it means you have perfectly healthy hand.I do not know how else I could explain you that your hand is not worth any obsession.wish you were playing with the cat and do not puzzle it with your hand moving not on his or her nice blacky head :))) Tickle the little creature - it is one of the best psychotherapies and it is very pleasant :)))

Thank you for comments. Did you upload your video? I believe I'm very tuned into this hand at present, and the twitches that come and go ever few moments, drive me insane . Hot spot maybe.

The cramps in this hard are driving me insane Constant ache. Over think g I'm dropping things. What can ease this discomfort? I try heat in it, which helps to an extent. Doesn't stop twitching but does ease the ache and soar cramps.
