Just when I think I've gottten it all now I have developed a chin twitch. At first it was only once and a while now it seems to be almost every few seconds. Its like a pulse in my chin right below my mouth. Has anyone had this one because it is really weird feeling and kind of freaking me out. Please let me know if you have had this and for how long so maybe I can sort of relax that its just bfs normal.Thanks.Mary

Hi. I do have facial twitching (around mouth, cheeks, chin) and this is nothing you should be worried about. The only difference between these and extremities twitches is that facial muscles are not innervated from your spinal cord. Moreover, facial twitches (especially around eyes) are known for their relation to emotional stress so they are very common. By the time ALS patients have facial fasciculations, they are usually unable to whistle, blow the cheeks (hope it does not mean anything vulgar :) ).

Twitychydoc, thank you for your quick repsonse I have been under a lot of stress lately so maybe that is the answer. And no the blowing the cheeks remark is not anything offensive. :D) Mary

Barbie008: I stated this fact just because some neurologists think that typical BFS (calves, feet...) is caused by slight spinal cord (protrusion, compression..). E.g. if you had this problem in your neck, you could have fasciculations in all 4 limbs (everywhere below the compression) but not in your face as its innervated through cranial nerves, separately from spine. So at least we know it is nothing wrong with our spine..most likely its just increased idiomuscular irritability which, of course, affects all muscles.

Chintwitching i do get on and off since 6to8mnths.I think chin is a very sensitive part, highly innerveted also exposed outside.therefore even a single twitch makes one very anxious.I suppose its a commen thing 4 bfsrs....DO u get tongue fasciclns. Take care . Regards..Bailyloves.

Bailyloves, No I have not had tongue twitching yet but a year ago this started with the corner of my mouth twitching for over two weeks non stop. So I guess when I keep getting the chin thing for almost a 24 hour period evey few seconds I think oh no hear we go again... Hopefully this will be more short lived.Mary

PeterDenmark, yes exactly what I am talking about I get the twitching chin, the buzzing lip and the twitching eye. They always seem to come out of nowwhere and stay and stay. It makes me feel better to know I am not alone. Mine are always on the left but the right eye sometimes gets them too. Oh and also the right side of my neck. Thanks for making me feel not so alone!Mary

Twitchinstinks, I think your user name says it all because all of these twitches stink! At least I know I am in good company with them!Mary

PeterDenmark, I know excatly what you mean because now I have been getting one at the top of my jaw under my ear and once activated, who know how long it will go but will probably return wih regularity once it does! Just more Bfs annoying stuff. Thanks for letting me know about your new nose twitch, I have had that one as well. Take care.Mary

Actually sadly it has been about 13 months for me and I hadn't had a facial twitch since thin all began last august. Than just when I quite obsessing about the body twitches the facial ones come back with a vengeance. I have already moved from the chin twitch which went to my lips than my jaw and now has been in the muscle around my inner eye above the tear duct by the side of the nose and below the eye brow but not on the eyelid! Why can't I ever have a normal eye twitch in the lid itself? Have you ever had the eye ones, I could use someone to commiserate with these eye ones. :D) Mary

I'm there with you, Mary.My left eyelid is having twitches right now. The upper eye-lid, to be precise. Also the same spots around the nose. Exactly. You're not alone - me neither, apparently. Doesn't give me much comfort though.:-/Peter

I get the chin all the time face jaw eyelids eyebrows nose ears fingers toes butt tummy sternum arms feet legs hands both private parts  lips scalp back palms buzzing feelings numbness sometimes sleep starts joint pains jerky movements weird skin sensations ....all bfs ALTHOUGH I think we should change the name to BS heheheTake care Brian
