IMPRESSION: Mild degenerative changes of the cervical spine.TECHNIQUE: Sagittal T1 / proton density / T2 FSE, axial T2 FSE.FINDINGS: The alignment of the cervical spine is normal. There aremild degenerative spondylotic changes of the vertebral bodies. Thecervical vertebral bodies show normal signal intensity, with no signof fracture or destructive lesion. The cranio-cervical junctionanatomy is normal. The spinal cord shows normal shape and signalintensity.C2-3: Normal findings.C3-4: Normal findings.C4-5: Normal findings.C5-6: Mild broad-based posterior disc protrusion, without spinalstenosis or neuroforaminal narrowing.C6-7: Normal findings.C7-T1: Normal findings. My doctor says what I have is common, but my question is can the problem in my C5-6 area cause thumb twitching? It's on and off (thumb twitching).

That is very interesting, may I ask you age? Being that your doctor says you spinal impression / condition is common, and thumb twitches aren't, I'd speculate that isn't the cause of your thumb twitches, but I could be, very well may be completely wrong.

I'm only 36 =)Well the thumb twitching thing is on and off. Lately I get it once a week or once every 2 weeks. My forearm feels tight sometimes probably from overuse. But I did injure my anteror serratus area about a month ago and thinking that could be related to the thumb twitching... I think it was on the verge of tearing due to repetetive stress (I do alot of lifting and lowering the kids at night in an awkward position, cooking, cleaning everyday nonstop). So I think I have repetitive stress injury and trying to find a way to heal that area (it still aches).

tatsu - call up your doc and ask. The lower neck bones do have nerve connections to the hand but I'm under the impression that pinching in this area causes numbness and pins and needles rather than twitching but who knows? The numbness has happened to me and this is what I was told. It sounds like your spine is 'normal' - I think when they say 'degenerative' they mean you are not a new born baby.
