Can ALS be Diagnosed Early On?

But can ALS even be diagnosed early on? Would it show up on an EMG if you've been twitching for just a few months? I've read that these can be early signs but would a clean EMG in conjunction with these symptoms not indicate ALS??

I've had a clean EMG early in my twitching and a few normal neuro exams since then but I'm getting worried again.

My last neuro told me it was not too early. I had mine 3 months in. He said most people come in for weakness and something shows up on emg. Most don't even notice the twitching. He said the emg would detect something wrong even BEFORE you noticed anything wrong.

Believe me I've wondered the same thing and have begged for another emg everytime I went. They all said NO! They all told me it would be unethical to perform a precedure, I've already had, when they feel no need.

My neuro also told me that another EMG would be unnecessary a couple of months ago. I suppose I should trust him.
