BFS: Have We Been Tuning Out Symptoms?

The forums seem quiet recently.

Maybe it is because may of the questions and points people bring up, have often been brought up before. After a few months I have noticed duplication of topics.

Anyway the other day I was thinking that maybe I had BFS for a while and just didn't noticed it. And maybe this was the same with you.

Why? Because the body tunes out many of its functions.

I never paid attention to the pins and needles feeling on the tips of my fingers until some people on this board said they have it (I have this).

I never realized that sometimes my legs feel like vibrators are attached to them until some people on this board pointed this out.

I knew I had twitches in my left leg, but didn't really noticed my right leg until I was discussing with a chiropractor and he showed me: your other leg twitches too.

I never noticed that I also sometimes twitch in the thigh and the glutes areas until I started to pay attention to this.

Actually until I herniated my disk in my back and had numbness in my ankle and foot, I never paid that much attention to my body!

For all I know I have had BFS for years, but was to busy with other things to notice. I mean really how often does a person stare at their calves looking for twitching?

The real reason (in my opinion) that so many people in the medical field have BFS is I think they are aware of their bodies. Where most people who don't spend their days working on the body just don't think about it.

Now on one hand I think it is good I am now more in tune with my body. Because if something is wrong I should go see a doctor. In the past I think I was more likely to ignore it. To bully my way through it.

On the other hand. Sometimes ignorance is bliss!

Absolutely true....after 14 months into this, I have days where I don't feel twitching at all. Then, if I think "hmm, am I still twitching"- sure enough I'm twitching just as much as always. All day long in my calves...randomly everywhere else. It's just a matter of perspective- I personally think I've had twitching for a lot longer than 14 months- that's when it happened to get worse and then I started noticing every twitch.

Back last year I never thought it would be impossible that I wouldn't notice the twitching but the fact is, there are plenty of days now when I hardly notice it at all. It's still there just the same as it was, but my focus is completely different...
