2 Yearly Gyno Exam Results

So....thusday I had my yearly exam with the gynocologist (never mind that I was a year late,,,making it a two yearly exam). Everything went well with the visit...well you know how gyno visits go  ....I missed the one last year due to the fact that I was freaked out with this whole BFS thing, and seemed to lose a year of my life somewhere? But that is a different story.

Here is my problem...you all know about DR. visits ...blood pressure, listen to the heart, hop on the scale....then the Doc comes in examines you...and then the talk. Well, he is looking over the notes and informs me that I am 21 pounds heavier then I was two years ago?? YIKES. I had my suspicions, but 21 pounds! Even worse than I had feared.

I was away for 10 days recently....for a nice relaxing time a lake resort. I packed summer clothing that I had not worn for at least a year, and everything was so tight! I took a ride to a local fruit stand while I was away with one of my daughters to pick up some jams...etc, something in the air made me sneeze very hard, as I sneezed the button on my too tight shorts popped off and flew about 2 feet away and hit a little kid right smack in his eye....I kid you not. My daughter laughed for about an hour. Thankfully the little boy was fine, and not blinded for life. BUT, I am now on a diet.

My question is this, does BFS cause weight gain? Anyone else with this problem? I hope. I am looking for something to blame this on other that the fact that I stopped exercising, and got lazy.....also whenever you all call for cyber-ice cream, I usually went to the kitchen and got a real bowl of it...., likewise with the glasses of wine, and margarita toasts all around.

I asked my husband why he didn't tell me I was getting fat? He said it is because I am so nice to him, and never point out that he is going bald. My daughter said that I am not fat, just chubby, HELP!! Well, anyway, I am now on a diet.....any tips on that....or do I have to look for another group of dieters on the web? Anyone else gain wieght since this began...I can only seem to find posts from BFSers who have dropped alarming amounts of weight...lucky..........

Love your "CHUBBY" friend,

lol! I gained 20 lbs too since all this began, but that was because I went on lexapro. I have since quit the lexapro, figuring it is better to be cute and nervous than fat and happy!

You see what you've done, you leave the forum for a couple of weeks and all hell breaks loose. Jodi gets a brain tumour and then loses it, Dave Y gets his feelings hurt, and stevenpaulo makes an appearance to explain that there will be no more appearances. You really must take your responsibility toward the forum more seriously...even if you are getting chubby. ;)

You sudden preoccupation with caloric intake is perhaps a perceived one in any event, are you sure it is clinical weight gain? Perhaps the scale is a sliding one, you can never be too careful.

Nevertheless, and I hope I do not make LisaLM insanely jealous ;), but weight gain or not, I am sure you still remain eminently hug-able.

Cheers,
Basso

I've gained 10 pounds since all this started. Lost a ton of weight at first when I was doing nothing but crying in bed for a month and didnt have any form of appetite. Then I did a complete turn around and started eating all kinds of crap because I thought I was doomed to a wheelchair for the rest of my life and no one would want to be around me anyway so I figured who cares if I'm fat? And so began my 6 month eating frenzy...

And now, feeling a heck of a lot better and now pretty much convinced that after 7 months of symptoms I would be a lot worse off if I had *S or **S, Im looking down at my waist and thighs in disgust lol.

So now it's time for me to start the diet thing as well. :(

Hi goyls, (and guy, sorry EyeoftheWild...)
I have nothing to add to this discussion, if I value my mental and emotional health that is, lol. So, to avoid wanting to slit my wrists (though some on this board may actually LIKE that, lol) I am going to sit out of this one.

Except to say that you are all gorgeous and faboo...including YOU Mr. EyeoftheWild...and, might I add that you and ristinaL91 make a mighty handsome cyber-couple. ;)

Hey-on another subject, I forgot to bend over and kiss your ring and pay homage to you today, oh-great EyeoftheWild of the bfs board. I'm still working on completing the cyber-shrine dedicated to you so that we might fawn all over you and revere you in the manner to which you have become accustomed. :D)

Heh-heh. Tongue inserted firmly in cheek of course...

I really just stopped by to say "hey" to Jaime.

Hiya, girlfriend. Good to see you.

Blessings and hugs,
Sue

It's so good to see you around here again Sue!

I think all my celebratory bowls of ice cream went straight to my hips. And thighs. And waist. And butt. lol

Oh well at least it was tasty right?

:) :) :) :)

Oops forgot to add:

I don't think my entire amount of unslightly pounds that I have gained are from BFS (some of it, maybe - but just from stressing myself out).

Personally, I blame my weight gain on the fact that I love to bake and my bakegoods happen to be yummy ;)

(btw, baking is about the only thing I can do right!)

There are a lot of variables that can be playing a role here - not the least of which is the stress response that triggers the release of excess cortisol into our bloodstreams.

Cortisol, in excess over even a short period of time, can promote weight gain, usually in the region around the hips, stomach, butt, etc., but it can be generalized as well. It seems reasonable to assume that this whole ordeal has pumped excess cortisol into at least a few of us, in some cases for a prolonged period of time. The resulting weight gain is frustrating and annoying, but not unexpected. That is just one possibility of many, but I suspect it has some bearing in many of our cases (I gained 25 pounds in the 3 months at the end of 2005, and that included a really scary stretch of days where I dropped like 10 pounds without trying... :crying: )

Just another compelling reason to motivate us to get our anxiety and worry over this under check (omg, did I just bring the kool-aid to a weight gain thread?? I sincerely apologize - I think it is the stuff flavored with NutraSweet).

I find this doubly frustrating in light of the exercise intolerance - anyone else finding it hard to get enough good exercise in to melt the pounds away easily?

Hope all have a peaceful evening.

You made me lol with your story of the popping button. I am glad that little boy is ok but will probably need therapy later to figure out why he is only attracted to anorexic women. I too sadly join the bfs chubby club. I have gone from a size 4, 6 on a bad day to lets say in the size 12 area. Every time I get dressed I have to wonder how do clothes shrink in the dresser draws?I blaime mine on age, stress and not being able to excersise like I used to. I went hiking for the first time last week it felt so good.

Wolvy,
My step Dad is one of the brightest, most intelligent men I know, yet he couldn't spell for beans. He also couldn't express himself well in writing. It had nothing to do with his capacity for knowledge, which is what intelligence is. He is brilliant, in spite of his inability to spell or write.

Certainly, spelling and grammar have nothing to do with common sense, which you clearly have in abundance.

Some people just aren't great at spelling, and in fact, as our brain cells die out and don't get replenished, I think some of the old spelling skills go down the toilet. At least that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. That, and once again, all those drugs I did in High School.

I used to be a spelling bee champion in grade school, but nowadays I make errors all of the time.

Perhaps we can blame this on bfs as well?

What the heck, right?

Blessings,
Sue

Blame it all on BFS!

That is what I tell my wife when I'm being selfish ang go golfing. I say "Honey, I didn't want to play golf, but the BFS made me"

She loves that answer.
