100 Twitches: My Struggles Today

I'm sorry for you *hug*. I know that can drive you nuts. I hope your therapist will help you. I have my first appointment on monday, had to wait really long. And everybody told me in psychotherapie, first it becomes worse before it gets much much better. So don't give up if you keep on twitching for some more time..

Got just about everything but the buzzing that some get. Calves and feet look like they are crawling with worms underneath them - nonstop movement. Fingers/hands twitch enough that its almost like essential tremor when I pick thing up, like a drink of water. On top of all that is the random movement every 10 seconds or so, some turning into hotspots that eventually go away. More recently it seems like a large portion of my muscles and joints are sore more often than not. Even to the point where I think its turning into some type of weakness, but I know it isn't. My muscles cramp very easily. On the plus side, I don't think there is any weakness (more than 2 1/2 years in) and I still run, workout, play golf, softball, lawn/home chores etc. Seems like I tire more easily, but then I'm 53 so that may also be a natural aging thing. Some days it gets VERY tedious and I wish it would stop just for an hour. Occasional anxiety and some depression at times, but less than those first agonizing months. Thanks for posting the rant here post!

I need to vent..... my whole body is popping. Last night, as I laid down to sleep, it felt like I was being pulled in every direction. I had the popcorn twitches going off all over but they were worse in my back and in my calves. But I was getting them in every muscle. This is going to sound outrageous, but I was getting about 100 per minute. They were firing off all over at a rate of about 2 per second. Back then hand.... left thigh, righ thigh... back and shoulder.... tongue... bicep, shoulder.... like that. I thought I was doing better with anxiety because I stopped commuting into work in June and have practiced relaxation breathing. My sleep starts have been much better and I FEEL more relaxed... but, my twitching is becoming more frequent and has been in my back and tongue a lot lately which, for some reason, makes me more nervous than if it stayed in my calves and feet. There are days when I truly believe this is all stress-related. But then there are nights like last night when it seems that there is something interfering with the signals from my spine. Everytime I rolled over to a different sleep position, a new spot would instantly start popping. If I lay flat on my back, my back and butt would pop. If I turn to my left, my left shoulder and left thigh would pop. How can that be stress? I'm so confused. OK, I feel better now that I've vented. -Matt

Matt, I'm so sorry you're getting hammered with these nonstop all over twitches. When mine started a few weeks ago that is exactly how I felt. I had them nearly every second and they would happen simultaneously in my upper and lower body. Just random hits mostly, with some persistent spots like my mid back, my groin, and my forearms. I didn't even count them because I was honestly scared to know how many I was having. I went from a few twitches in my calves to that...literally overnight. I get what you're saying about rolling over in bed and triggering them with a change of position. I can make them start up in my arms and my back with a simple roll over. When I wake up in the morning I have very few, but the more I stretch and my muscles "warm up", they're off to the races. My venting today is because I had a few great days, I even managed to have times where I could go for long periods without having any twitches. Get this...I watched the Ortiz-Mayweather fight the other night and was all fired up (I've always gotten a nervous feeling when I watch sports). Anyways, I started to twitch like CRAZY, all over complete with the buzzing sensation about two rounds in. I haven't stopped since. All it took was getting a little nerved up over a boxing match! Matt, after paying close attention to the pattern of my symptoms the past couple of weeks, I can tell you without a doubt in my mind that it takes just the smallest trigger to set this off. With your general anxiety still going, along with the day to day stresses of life and work, you are going to be crazy twitchy like you are now. I hope you (SOON) can get to a point where this calms way down. I know how it consumes your thoughts when you feel like you are being jerked this way and that every moment of every day. Please know that we all genuinely care and want you to feel better soon!

This is vent right? Ok good. Here goes. For the last week my left calf and foot are both wormy feeling with hit and run twitching and sharp pains. I also have a dull and sometimes sharp aura of pain in by lower back just above my tailbone(which seems to fuel the twitching and pains in the left leg). My husband noticed that I have been a little sad lately and asked if I was ok. I said that I was fine even though this is really raising my anxiety again. He said you know you can talk to me, so I told him about the twitching and pains and he gave me the "look" lol it was the look like "don't start this again".Ok. Glad to get that out but still nervous : (

Hi Jen, my hubby gets that oh god shes gonna start up about twitching look too.....I actually have a lot of sore twitches in the last week too...my shoulders are killing me my ankle is cracking and my feet just won't STOP.....aaarrrgghh....hope your anxiety settles down soon for you...I just get used to one thing and something new pops up.... ....best wishes shanno

haaha, I get that look too. My husband has been trying to be more understanding. Right now my scalp, temples and jaw are going crazy!!! All while I am constantly getting the random pops ALL over my body. I think the head and face get me the most anxiety ridden and depressed. They are just so annoying!!!

I've been doing so well with my anxiety lately but in the past few days, my tongue twitching has driven me to the brink of sanity. It's pretty much a continuous twitch now. I feel tingling all over it and if I look at it in the mirror, I can clearly see the constant flickering and every few seconds there is a twitch right in the middle. I just want it to stop, even if for a day. Uuuuugh. -MattP.S. the random pops all over my body are still going but the tongue twitches are the ones that get me mentally.

I am having a tough day pain wise. My calves, triceps, forearms and back are all stiff as hell. Some twitches but those arent bugging me too much.

Tough week for twitches. I was just laying on the couch watching tv and everytime I changed my position a new part of my body would start twitching, popping, or fluttering. If I put my arm up over my head, my back would start fluttering. If I put my legs up on the coffee table, my thighs would start popping. If I yawned, my tongue would tingle and I'd get flickering on the sides. It was just one of those weeks.

Just ran 11 miles. I felt good. I started twitching in my calves 6 months ago so if there were something affecting my muscles, there's no way I'd be able to run that far without noticing something. I came back to the house and my body is flipping out on me. My back is fluttering, my calves are bubbling and popping, I'm getting tongue zaps, my shoulders are popping, my abdomen is joining in. Its crazy. My entire body is going nuts all at once. I hate this.

I also have twitches all over for about a year (mostly in my calves). Had a normal neuro exam and EMG in Jan. 2011. Lately I've also been experiencing a feeling like my right arm is "heavy". Don't think it's actually weakness but of course I'm freaking out again. Anyone else have this sort of "perceived" weakness??

Dear all, I have one thing that helped me a lot with twitching - massage. really, its so good, it relaxes your body... I also tried Bowen therapy, its weird and don't know if it helped me, cuz i was only once and you have to go 3 times, but it is meant to deblocade your body from stress... However, my twitches started last December- I had them non-stop and everywhere (even tongue). Now, after 1 year I feel much better, yesterday I twitched a few times on my arm and thats it. If I compare to last year...I am good. Sometimes I get pain, but not from twitching, just like that and sometimes I tingle (tongue especially). As for my condition- I feel great, I can do sports, no problems with weakness, no problems with dizzines... Well, I deeply recommend massage and Mg. Regards

I've been getting a lot of popping in my back and thighs lately (along with all the other typical symptoms). Especially when I'm lying down. It's like a popcorn machine going off every second. Ugh!Also, my muscles are fluttering like crazy today. It'll go from my back, to my thigh, to my tongue in a matter of seconds. What is that all about?

My right foot on the inside near the arch will not stop twitching unless I don't walk anywhere for hours (like when I'm sleeping). Then it might stop. Awful. I hate it. Last night it was going nuts, making my toes move. Ugh...Mitra
