    Exploring ALS Symptoms and Causes

Agreed, ALS sites are only helpful for those who have ALS.Karen, how is your tongue strength and speech? Can you touch behind the molars on each side of your mouth with your tongue? Does it come straight out of your mouth when you stick out your tongue? The fact that the fasciculations...

Seeking Help for Anxiety & Depression

Fascics in ALS are caused by denervation. Denervation is what also causes weakness. Therefore, it is near impossible for fascics to precede the weakness. If the fasciculating muscle was tested for strength and it was normal, you can feel pretty confident you don't have "it."

    Chest Twitching: Is this Normal?

Bart, I too had a period where I was biting my cheek and tongue on occasion. Oddly enough, it started happening when I was worrying about it happening, and it has stopped since I have focused my attention elsewhere. Moral of the story, focus on something else and I bet it will stop.

Twitching & Bulbar ALS: Facts & Fiction

If the EMG is done on the tongue and in that general area, it does clear out bulbar.

Question About Clean EMG & ALS Risk

There would be fibrillations and positive sharp waves if you had ALS. An EMG of just fascics is nothing.

    Twitching Shoulder: What's Going On?

Has your doctor considered Zoloft possibly exacerbating your fasciculations? I take Paxil, which is also an SSRI, and when I went from 20 mg to 30 mg my twitching increased (I also started having less anxiety about them though).

    Twitching Shoulder: What's Going On?

Shoulder twitch? Yea, I get them in my left shoulder several times a day (maybe 20 or so times a day).

Not going to be a good day

Well the past couple days, the twitches in my left calf are pretty much nonstop when I am at rest, particularly after I go to the gym. It seems the only time they stop is when I stretch or use my calves. Over the weekend, I had some pain in my left calf, particularly when I stretched it or...

    Upset and Twitching Since March

He said he didn't think it was anything serious, and your reflexes must've appeared okay. Just try to relax until July, you'll be fine. You have your age, gender, and reflexes all on your side! Also the fact that you've been twitching two months and haven't made any mention of any clinical...

Physician Experiences Twitching After C. diff Infection

Great post, a must read. Anything else you can get from those studies would be great also.

Question about Jerking While Falling Asleep

I've had my whole body jerk, but very rarely. More often I'll just have a foot or a finger or an arm jerk. And like you, when it does happen, it'll happen several times in the same night. I've never worried about it because it isn't a symptom of ***.

    New Symptoms: Neck/Throat Jerks

Very rarely, but yes, I experience this occasionally. However, I'm almost certain it's a side effect of Paxil as I've begun having a lot of issues in the mouth and jaw area after I began taking it. And when it happens, I can also feel it through my tongue.

    Concerned About Hand Pain/Cramps

Bart, you don't need anymore EMG's, you need CBT. That's the only way you'll get better. You need to change the way you think.

    Concerned About Hand Pain/Cramps

By all the EMGs you have had, yes, it would've been clear before you even noticed the twitching.
