Yoga Workshop Experience: Surprising Results!

Hey! Just thought I'd share my experience from last night's yoga class. I have to say it was fun. The class is a yoga workshop. The instructor explains the origin, demonstrates, tweeks your holding postions and so on. I do have to say, I can not believe my breathing pattern. It's horrible. No wonder I have such problems calming myself down. I got dizzy and starting having the tingling/numbing sensations. So, I guess my docs were right when they said your breathing could be the key to a lot of sensory garbage. It was pretty funny...

1. I breath wrong
2. When I was told to tighten my muscles up for stregnth/stability- I was already there
3. And... when I was told to relax- NOT ABLE TO DO SO.

Well... that's it. Thought I'd share. It is frustrating but yet I could see yoga becoming addictive.

Hope everyone is well.

Basso- you're gonna give me a complex. You're just looking to give me a hard time- aren't ya'? To hell with spell check/proof reading- I'm gonna need to Basso-proof my posts.

I must admit- it DID sound a little funky. Notice I've since edited the post???? A lot of help it does, since you quote me on your post. Thanks for the almost-save. ;)

I have actually sung, and taught singing for many years. This also means I have to retrain my students how to approach their breathing, because most people tend to breath in a shallow way.

I think anything that settles the breath, will also settle the mind. Contrarily, if the breathing is hampered in some way, it stands to reason that anxiety might be the result. This sounds like a really positive step Vanessa...right on.
