Yawning in the Car Constantly

Probably unrelated, but I yawn constantly in the car. Being in a vehicle just puts me to sleep. Doesn't happen anywhere else.

Much of what you read on the web from ALS people describing their first symptoms is ridiculous. Seems everyone goes back about 3 years before other symptoms started and says something like, "I noticed a little pain in the joint of my index finger," or "I had a hard time not yawning during meetings," or something else equally ridiculous. Looking back, so many misconstrue some early ache or pain or natural reaction as the first sign. Many more people have arthritis, for instance, than ALS, so you would assume that many people diagnosed with ALS also have arthritis. But for them, this arthritis was their "first sign" of something insidious.

Bottom line, don't read ALS sites.

I read something kind of interesting the other day. It was a clinical study of 200 ALS patients concerning excessive yawning. 23 patients were observed to have bouts of uncontrollable yawning. What was interesting was that in every patient that had excessive yawning, the pseudobulbar effect (uncontrollable laughing and crying) was also observed. I looked into it a little more and it does seem like yawning in ALS is commonly referred to in conjunction with emotional liability as they call it. This could be the news I've been waiting for! :p

Just give my anxiety a couple of days to kick and convince me it isn't credible.
