Xanax Not as Effective Now

I've been on xanax around a month or so...5 mg 3 x's a day..at first it seemed to make almost all symptoms go away..now the effectiveness is wearing off building a tolerance to it..so when it gets close to time to take, i notice symptoms a little worse..how much are you on? i am trying cymbalta an anti-anxiety med and also used to treat diabetic peripherial nueropathy (?)..I only had very little twitching..dr put me on xanax 5 months ago..thought all the twitching was from withdrawl..never stopped..don't know..will we ever know? does anyone else build a resistance to xanax? i was told not to increase dosage or times this runs into becoming addicted to it..this stuff is still very scarey..

Holy smokes, 5 mg? I was put on 1 mg for panic attacks, quite awhile ago , and had a hard time staying awake... I had to break them in half in order to function. Are you sure it isn't .5 milligrams? I am not sure if my twitching decreased any... but the anxiety about them did melt away while I was on it. I am not taking it anymore, but I do carry a couple with me "just in case"...

I asked becuase i did not notice any BFS until after I got off of Xanax. i got back on it and they deminshed. Got off they are back. I have read the Fasiculations are a symptom of xanax withdrawl and that it can last up to a year.
