Worries about Left Arm Feeling

Hi everybody,Sorry that I write again with worries.. you are very helpful for me. Yesterday evening I had some feeling in the hand, not in the palm but the other side (I think it is called hand reverse in english, no sure). I first wake up in the morning very early and notice my left arm very clumssi for few seconds, just the first movement after wake up, after that all normal.I felt sleep again, and later on when I was just awake again and because I was nervous, I try every kind of movements to prove I am still ok ;) (quite obssesive I think I am). I moved both wrist, left and right, and I noticed it very stiffened, with some very sharp movement when I level both up. Even worse, I had a very weird thing in the fourth finger of the right hand. When I move the hand up and down, the other fingers moved normally (from almost open with the hand down, to almost close with the hand up), but not the fourth finger, which made a very sharp movement at the end. I could control each finger perfectly, even the fourth finger, but this finger moving in conjuction with the other had a so sharp movement, that now I am worry about spasticity. Is it normal? Not normal? Have something like that happened to you?

It always goes away after a while so must just be your sleep position. People get this also when they have muscle spasms or a pulled muscle in their upper back and neck area so it is not having to do so much with bfs. You are probably cramping your shoulder while you sleep and putting too much pressure on a nerve and stopping some blood flow. It is very difficult to do but try not to sleep on your side or on your arms. If you do sleep on your side, support your head and neck well. Get a really good pillow for support - most stores sell these now - they look a little like the number 8 from the side and are pretty thick and firm - often made out of memory foam of some sort. Good luck :)

Movement and sensation problems that occur after waking up and then go away after a couple of minutes are very often caused by a poor circulation in that arm or leg. As AllGoodHere said it can be a wrong position when sleeping, but it can also be caused by an overall poor circulation. Both together (weak circulation and sleeping on your hand) will make the symptoms even worse. The movements you describe regarding the forth/ring finger don't sound abnormal. On when I close the fingers of my right hand, the ring finger doesn't move as smoothly as the others, it rather makes three sharp jerks. However, if I move the finger alone, the movement looks much smoother.
