Worried about Internet Info: ALS Scare

I have a question. The internet has all sorts of stuff that is worrying me.
I am 30, in great shape. Last year, I was stressed and started to twitch in an eye. Read the junk on the internet and that started the ALS scare. Pretty soon, I was twitching all over.
I could even see them in my foot occuring once every 4 seconds. It drove me crazy. Then this fall it lagged off, and now I have about 4 twitches a day. Good news?
Well probably not. In February, I woke up and found my hand was moving. When I awoke completely it stopped. Then in April, I was on vacation and it was very warm in the hotel and for 4 straight days the same thing happened. Whenever, I would wake up in the morning or try to fall asleep I would feel my hands move. Well I had respite from this for a month and for the past two days the same thing has happened. When you read in the internet they mostly have stuff about restless leg syndrome and they are very scarry. They had one article saying this is 40% of the time a precursor to Parkinson's. Then you have others linking it to MS. Is this and I hope it is. The same time of dramatic stuff that linked twitching to ALS or are these jerks very serious.
Thanks for all your help over the past 12 months.

Hi Andrew,
Myoclonic jerks are very common amongst us bfs'ers, and...the general population.

Anytime you have movement, particularly assocated with sleeping or awakening, this is a totally benign process.

There are even bfs'ers who jerk when they are perfectly awake as well, so no worries, okay?

Just use it to your advantage. Sleep next to someone you're peeved at, and give em a good swift kick. ;)

Blessings,
Sue

And the biggest advice of all. STOP LOOKING FOR TROUBLE ON THE INTERNET! hang out here by all means but give up the online research, it will not make you feel better. :)

Suzi,

Let me get this straight, you are suggesting that we find people that we are mad at, and sleep with them just so we can kick them? Hmmmm...what has been going on heree while I was away for the long holiday weekend?

When all of my crap started, I got upset about MS. I thought for sure I had it...well after thinking about it I tried to go to bed and all I did was jerk...everywhere. I would try to sleep and I would just be moving EVERYWHERE. I would get half asleep and wake up in a panic b/c I could feel my throat doing swallowing motions. I would jerk during to day too, and at one point or another I would get full body jerks where I would be sitting on the couch or on the computer and my entire body would jump forward a little...it is very scary! but now that I have found this haven, I do not stress these things anymore...and now they rarely happen!

Amanda,

Really all of our kidding aside on here...I am really happy for you.

Usually, by the time we finally start to get used to these crazy BFS symptoms they start to calm down a little (just in the nick of time).

Glad that you are feeling a little better.
