Why Do We Twitch?

hi everyone, thought it might be fun and reassuring for everyone to tell everyone else which twitch bugs u the most and why....and yes u can write all of them if thats the case.... :D) ok i will start.....i hate the twitches on the top of my hand between my thumb and forefinger...not sure why but i find the twitches in my hands really unsettling..and im a year into this...hugs shanny

Facial twitches. Being a 7 year vet, there is no twitch that makes me feel unsettled or worried in the least, however I don't like the idea that other people can see my facial twitches during work conversation, etc.

I would have to say the big thigh thumpers. They're the only ones big enough to wake me up. The most embarassing ones are the facial ones....had one a couple of months ago that made it look like I was giving everyone "the eyebrow". You know, like "hey baby...come talk to me" type of eyebrow. ;) Frances

I was really bothered with my eye twitch. First, it was starting as soon as I started working and looking into the screen trying to read my translation task. Second, sometImes I had not ususal horisontal eyelid twitches but a vertical spasm-like one badly shutting the eye!It was exactly like my body was talking to me: Yulia, you are working tooo much! But I love my job :)

For me, I have a few twitches that bother me.1. Tongue twitches. Far and away the worst for me, I hate them. Lately, my tongue feels like I just burned it on hot soup and I can feel tiny flickers on it throughout the day. On the top, sides, even underneath.2. Pinky toe twitch. Only because its been going for 3 months now! All day, every day like a rapid pulse that moves my pinky toe.3. Shoulder twitches. No idea why they bother me so much but when I have a bad shoulder twitching day, the twitches appear in many spots on my shoulder at the same time. Don't like those. This is a great post Shanny because its interesting to see what bothers some people compared to others. The two twitches that NEVER bother me at all are the eyelide twitches and the butt twitches. And Shanny, I have plenty of twitches between my thumb and forefinger. I even had a bunch this morning. These don't bother me anymore because that area has been twitching frequently for about 10 months. I've gotten used to them.-Matt

It creeps me out when the side of my head/scalp twitches. It also bugs me when my thumb does more of a tremor than a twitch. But more annoying is waking up several times a night with an arm or hand or foot asleep and having to spend several minutes shaking that out. That is really getting old. The night time jerking is maddening too. Vicki

Fun post to vent Shanny, thanks! The two most annoying twitch spots for me are basically anything above my waste. I, like you, hate the hand twitches of the thenar muscle. I also hate hate hate the neck twitches. This is followed by shoulders and biceps.I find it funny how most of the long term vets I talk to get so frustrated with the eye twitching. I have them but not to the extent of others. They don't bother me in the least.

Hey Matt, I have had a burning tongue sensation too.... ..I don't worry about my tongue twitching but my tongue feels like I ate something too hot or too acidic....weird hey...and after my hand twitches my next least favourite are my shoulders and neck.....And I don't mind my butt or my eyelids twitching unless both eyelids are going at once that's kind of weird.... Glad u liked the post...hugs shanny

Dont think any twitching in particular is bothersome now, one i get that i'm quite conscious of is the bottom lip electro quiver ...it kind of rolls my whole lip.

I'm with Johnny on this one. After almost 8-years of this, the body wide twitches don't really bother me at all. Any twitch that hits my face causes me quite a bit of anxiety—for obvious reasons. My eyelids were sending me off the edge, so I started having Botox injections. Aside from looking like someone beat the *beep* out of me for a week, there have been no bad effects and it has killed the eyelid twitching for up to 5-months.

Haha... I want to see someone take a video of that! I was thinking about this on the way into work today. I think the reason my tongue twitches bother me is because its not "classic" BFS. I know LOTS of people get tongue twitching but if EVERYONE got it, I don't think it would bother me so much. But it really shouldn't bother me. Every single muscle in my body has twitched. I get them from the top of my head to my pinky toes!-Matt

Hi ShannyAny twitches from neck up, at the moment for me is tongue twitches every day now for 2 months, a few years back i had the sensation of twitches in my brain that made my eyes flick up just once with each twitch very very scary, ear drum? thumps ,temple thumps, facial twitches.

Mine are definitely weird facial twitches. I get them on my lip sometimes, and my tongue on occasion. The eyelid twitches don't bother me as much, but the facial ones are just weird.I also don't like when twitches are strong enough to move my toes. Too weird. My calves I'm just used to at this point.Cool post, Shanny!!Mitra
