When BFS Stops Colds-Sharing

Since I've had BFS (since Nov. 2007), I would never get sick any more. I just posted this a couple of weeks ago when ImOk had a cold. My kids would pick up loads of viruses and pass them on to me before I had BFS. Then when my BFS symptoms started, I didn't get sick or catch anything any more. Last week, my daughter came home from school with a cold. When I woke up Monday morning, I was shocked to wake up with a cold (a full fledged one not just sniffles). And I have to say it feels good. I know that sounds absolutely absurd. But it feels like like my body is now doing what it should be doing. And my BFS symptoms are almost non-existent. I never thought I would be this happy to have a cold!

Hey- I tried all to get my husband's cold but wasn't successful - just to get a break from this cramping and spasms. Weird huh? What the heck does this mean? Are our immune systems so busy dealing with the virus that they leave the muscle/nerve connections alone for a while? Man, who would have believed this weirdness?OK - so look out because the last time this happened to me I had a whiplash of symptoms a day later. The first time it didn't happen so who knows maybe you're OK and symptoms will just ease back- just wanted to warn you. It's all uncharted territory right? The only forum person that had the same virus response was Mike_isr so it looks like we are a subset here.Tonight my 'therapy' combination is working (relaxation, gabapentin, Aleve, and vodka). A BCFS'ers TGIF party.Well, enjoy your 'normal' body a few more days and have a great weekend.

I caught another cold. It wasn't easy, I had to get a little sleep deprived (easy with bcfs), stop my vitamins, and french kiss my husband while he was sick, but I did finally manage it. Bcfs symptoms almost gone :D) here on the second day - my husband has noted my increased energy, and that my usually hyper-toned muscles are not at least visually tensed now (cramps usually settle in a few places and stay there so some muscles are notably tighter than others). Says he will help by bringing home some more viruses & by not washing his hands as often when in contact with the public. Alas, the runny nose still makes yoga almost impossible but otherwise I welcome the sore throat, etc.No end to the weirdness. Constantly people run out of money, clean air and water, food, health care, insurance, but the weird is always in great supply. This time though I will be prepared for when it stops and carry some gaba with me....I don't seem to need it when I have a virus but keep taking the one at night as I still get the flailing arms and jerks if I don't. Silly me, I actually though I might be rid of this bcfs curse when symptoms went away so completely last time. :( Postp - How is your cold? What is up with you now? Hope you ease back better than I did the last time.

AllGoodHere, Congratuations on your cold! I was laughing when I read how you caught it. Your husband is probably happy to catch colds as well now. I won't tell my husband or he'll be chasing after the sick kids at the playground trying to catch their germs. All kidding aside, its pretty sad when we have to resort to trying to catch viruses to feel better. But I have never felt so normal or back to my old self as I did last week. Unfortunately my cold is gone now. My cramps returned with a vengeance last night. I've had some cramping today and ringing in my ears again. I am so disappointed! I felt so great that I thought the BFS was maybe gone and wouldn't come back. Silly me. I guess that's the thing with BFS. You can have some good days and you are tricked into thinking you are getting better. Then all of a sudden it comes back.I'm glad you are having some relief from the BCFS with your cold. Maybe if you keep depriving yourself of sleep and vitamins, it might prolong it a bit! Here's hoping some cold germs will come back to my house......
