When I was in my darkest days I posted about a local radio DJ here in Louisville that "had" ALS. I even e mailed this guy giving him support, offering my help and admiring him for his courage and will to go on.
Today one of our local TV investigative reporters broke a story that this man who was a very popular friend could have possibly been faking ALS for the past 5 years. He and his mother set up his own foundation and have collected thousands of dollars. The IRS is now investigating him and his mother. They can't substantiate any of the donations. He claims to have paid cash to pay for other ALS sufferers wheel chairs, canes, etc...
He has always been willing to show his face on the local MDA telethon and wouldn't agree to an interview on camera. They played a telephone call and he said he would call the news station back within two hours with medical proof that he has it. He didn't call back and they just announced they have advised him they will agree to pay for all medical testing so he can prove he has it. He has not returned their call. He resigned from his job at the start of the week claiming that it has nothing to do with this scandal. The kicker? He also announced about one year ago that he had cancer too and would have to have his leg amputated.
They have interviewed doctors and the local MDA which he has never registered with and the docs say it's odd that he would have it for five years and he doesn't even limp.
Local businesses have poured their time and money into this man's "foundation" and all along it appears he is healthy.
Sorry to ramble but this pi$$es me off more than you can imagine. When I thought I was dying I e mailed this guy with so much sympathy and even considered donating.
Can you guys believe this jerk. God forgive me if he has it but it's really looking like he might be facing some jail time. He also purchased an SUV and did not finance it. HMMMMMMM...............
