According to an update recently from a neurologist, they are finding more and more "BFS type" illnesses may actually be related to the West Nile Virus. When I went in for my EMG in January they also took blood looking for WNV. When my EMG was normal, he told me that if I didn't have WNV then I have Benign Fasciculations. When it came back positive they told me that explained my symptoms. If you read this: "Your chances of having long-term effects as a result of West Nile Virus (WNV) infection are the same, regardless of whether your infection was mild or more serious, say researchers from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Science. The most common long-term effects are depression, tremors, fatigue, memory problems, extremity weakness, word-finding difficulty and headaches." In another study, the word tremors was replaced with "movement disorders including myoclonus, tremors, and fasciculations" Just posting for people that may have WNV, might be something to pursue. I come from Idaho which had the most cases of WNV in 2006 in the nation. Lots of mountains and lakes, so it's been pursued here pretty relentlessly. They say on average that it dissipates in roughly 2 years. Might be something to look forward to?Shauna
