Greetings New Soul, and I like your screen name by the way. I believe I experienced the strange muscle phenomenon you are describing when I first started having symptoms. I just called it jerky motion. No matter how smooth and fluid I tried to keep my motions sometimes they would just stair-step or jerk in an non-smooth manner... It sounds the same though. It was extremely apparent when I would stretch both arms out in the morning or when I tried to brush my teeth at night. I think it acted up more after i worked out too. Anyway, yes I do believe you can have BFS without the fasculations, because I believe BFS is actually an auto-immune condition related to digestive health. That's just my opinion though, so take it or leave it.

Practically whithout fasculation it is not a fasciulation syndrome but it istill might be just overtension and lack of relaxation.

I've had this condition for 7 (or 8, or 9?) years; currently in a state of remission. I can assure you that there were seasons when I rarely twitched, but did experience other symptoms, such as the ratcheting you have described. Most of my issues in fact were NOT fasciculations, but rather, perceived weakness, tremoring and ratcheting. So YES, you absolutely can have BFS without fascics. Particularly since you have now started having these random muscle twitches. When I first joined this forum, I used to find it frustrating because fellow-fasciculators would tell me my symptoms were not consistent with BFS, however, over the months and years, I have found multiple people with my exact symptoms. Hyper-excited nerves can cause all manner of bizarre symptoms in different people. Hope this helps, Blessings, Sue
