Sorry if you read this twice, I wanted to post it here as I think this is where more folks like myself with no diagnosis but concerns go. Thanks for understanding. I am new to this site. I'm a 35 year old stay-at-home Mom of our first baby gorl who is almost 7 months. As of December 10th, life has not been the same. It has taken a dark turn and I unfortunately live in utter fear due to some weird neurological symptoms. I realize most folks are plagued by thoughts of ALS; I was. But does anyone fret over Parkinson's when their fingers twitch? I do!! I first noticed an annoying twitch in my right calf that lasted for three weeks. It's been gone for almost two weeks now. During the time it stayed around, I went to see a neuro that did the standard exam in her office and sent me home telling not to worry and that unless I had the twitch for 6wks and was still concerned, she would perform an EMG but didn't see any need for it. (I had visited her office when the initial twitch was only a week old.) Also during this time, I experienced all sorts of twitching - and still do - all over random parts of my body. It's amazing how many things can twitch when you are actually paying attention to it and LOOKING for it! As of 2-3 days ago, I have developed a left hand ring finger twitching. For three weeks I thought I had ALS. Now I think I have Parkinson's and it's making me crazy!! I do have an appt with a neuro Monday. It twitches here and there - or just pulses or something. I notice the actual twitch occurring on the top of my hand between the pinky and ring finger knuckle; in turn, the finger twitches. It occurs sometimes during rest, sometimes when I'm leaning on it, sometimes when the fingers are curled. I guess it's all over the place but does give me some breaks as it's not always fluttering. I also feel like I have a random facial twitch around the upper lip under the nose, area along with what feels like electrical impulses in fingers on the right hand too but haven't noticed any actual twitching. My right hand does feel rather tight, but I've also been using hand grippers non-stop ever since I thought I had ALS - I scared myself into thinking I needed to check and make sure my muscles were still working! I also have a sort of random "vibrating"sensation that trickles down my arms here and there too. Is there anyone out there that can reply to me? I'm up so late just hoping for someone to chat with since my husband has a really hard time with me always thinking the worst about illness as do most people around me that don't seem to understand how nervous twitching makes me. And I read on here somewhere that there are a few other folks that don't necessarily mind all of the random body twitching, but once it settles in the same finger for a period of time, it gets scarier. Do I have Parkinson's or ALS?? Thanks for istening!

Pretty common i would think ...i get it now and then ...its not a prominent symptom i have but ive noticed it and watched it on occasions. 1.01 bfs

Yes absolutely, I fret about Parkinson's a lot because my thumb muscle twitch is occasionally so fast it looks like a tremor. This actually ruined this past Christmas for me when it did that for three days straight. Also I get hand tremors when I hold my hands in a fixed position (they call this a postural tremor) and it's fairly common among anxiety sufferers like myself.I worried about Parkinson's way before I was ever worried about ALS... BUT... this summer it will be two years since it all started. I still go to the gym, still lift weights, I have no other symptoms of either disease and have been told by my doctor that I'm okay. Repeatedly. You're okay too.:0)
