Hi, Everyone:
I am new to this forum. I just found it today after a couple of months of searching the internet out of desperation to figure out what is going on with me. Already, I have learned a lot from all of you, so thanks.
A couple of questions:
1) Can numbness/pins and needles be the first sign in BFS? I woke up in August with a numb shin...it was as if someone had applied Novocaine to the front of my shin. This persisted for weeks. I now have slight pins and needles in both shins, but the fasciculations in my calves and thighs, 24/7, have become by far the most present and bothersome symptom.
2) Within about a month, I noticed that if I touched lightly on my lower back (right at the base of my spine), I experienced an electric sensation down my right leg. This has persisted. It is always in the same place, and happens each and every time I touch my lower back. It's very, very distinct. When I mentioned this to my neurologist, basically he looked at me like I was nuts, and told me this was impossible. Well....it's not, 'cause there it is! It also happens that when I lift my left foot, I experience the same type of electric sensation in my right quadricep.
My EMG and bloodwork have all come back normal.
It would be very interesting to me to find out if anyone else here has experienced something similar?
I've got lots of other questions, but I will save them for another post. Thanks in advance for any insight anyone can give.
