Hi all!First off all i want to say i'm very glad i found this forum.I'm 26 years old and i'm from Belgium. In september my doctor send me to the hospital for some tests cause he didn't know why i was tired all the time.I do sports since i was 6 years old so he found it kind of strange that my body was reacting in such a way ( high heartbeat while sporting, almost out of breath after ten minutes of running )the doctor there told me i was overtrained, after doing all kinds of test :)On month after that i started twitching in both calves, and soon it went all over my body ( i even twitched in places i didn't know i had muscles :D) )Then i googled ,like most people in here, and was in for the scare of my life. I couldn't sleep, eat, i even lost my job cause i couldn't focus anymore. Finally i found this site and i couldn't believe what i read. I was not alone with the twitching and it even had a name :).I went to the doctor and he blew me off and said it was nothing to worry about. Now i'm 7 months into this and i have a great new job, a nice gf and i'm playing basketball again ( the sport of my life :) )now i twitch almost bi-lateral in calves and feet with the sporadic twich in shoulder, abdomen, eyelids, lips, head and the occasional hotspot that last a day or two.I still have moments that i doubt my health cause i didn't have a medical exam or EMG.but reading this forum makes me almost certain i have BFS.I hope we'll get along well and i'll try my best to be at your help :)If there are questions, feel free to ask :)PS: i'm sorry if i made a lot of mistakes English isn't my first languageStijn

Welcome, sounds like BFS to me. I haven't been officially diagnosed either, but I am convinced this is what I have. You sound just like me. We are all here for you

Thank you all for the warm welcome :)What's great about this forum is that i can read the experiences of other people with this twitching. While at home my gf's tells me to stop looking at my twtiching and stop talking about them :)Last week i had problems with my allergy and i noticed my twitching increased dramatically. My twitches were much more agressive and again very body-wide.like i was back at the beginning of this all.The twitching still bothers me sometimes but i try to make the best out of it :)HoneybeeBzzz : How long have you been twitching? And is there a specific reason why you didn't do any exams? Stijn

Hi Stijn, I have been twitching since July 17 2010. So, about 10 months now. I have had two neuros, who weren't concerned that my twitching was anything sinister, but were worried about my anxiety. I had the normal blood work, and in house neurological exams and a cervical spine MRI.( The MRI did show issues with my neck that could cause muscle twitching if bad enough, but the neuros didn't think this was the problem for some reason) I ended up pregnant 3 months into this whole ordeal so I couldn't get anymore testing done. No one ever suggested an EMG and I was told that I could come back after the baby is born and have a brain and spinal MRI if i wanted. However, the pregnancy forced me to take control of my anxiety and I just said that I was going to fight this and tell myself that BFS is what I have, especially since I fit the description to a T. I also started taking non habit forming sleeping pills so I could sleep at night. This all has had a major impact on my anxiety level and subsequently my twitching has slowly decreased from 2000+ a day to now, hundreds and the past few days I have had 50 or less a day. I have to believe that anxiety makes this so much worse. That is what my neuros kept trying to tell me too. I am a little nervous that maybe it's just the pregnancy that is helping and that after the baby is born it will come back full blown, but there is another newbie on here who didn't start twitching until after she was 7 months pregnant. So... we shall see. But these boards are a God send....

Thanks for the respons Tiggida! When are you having your baby? Your world is going to change drastically :D) I wonder if i'm the only one who didn't get a medical exam.I just got blown off by my doctor, without even testing me for strenght-issues or ssomething else. There is one thing i really regret about this all: googling my symptoms. That's probably my worst move i ever made :)And i've done some pretty stupid ones.Stijn

Haha oke you have some experience in that area :D) Well a big family is very nice, i have three brothers myself ( poor mom ) and it is fantastic :)Stijn
