Welcome Back! Twitching Fingers

Hi everyone,

I've been off the forum for quite a while - I decided to take a bit of a break. I am also going through a Paxil withdrawal and it has had me down and out for quite a while.

My fingers have been acting up again and I would imagine that the withdrawal isn't helping any. But I am wondering how many of you who get twitching in the fingers will get twitching in more than just one finger on a given day? In the past, I've only had my right pinky finger twitch (and it was quite relentless quite a while back).

But lately, I am getting a twitchy (moving) left thumb one minute. Then a half hour later, my right forefinger will twitch or move. Then, a little while later, my left forefinger will twitch or move. It seems to be "multiple" fingers this time around.

Has anyone else had twitching in more fingers than just one in a day? These twitches don't last long - they will just twitch once or twice and then stop (unlike my pinky finger months back when it just wouldn't stop).

Thanks for your help - I hope you are all well - I haven't checked up on any of the latest postings for quite some time.

God Bless, Mark

Thanks for your reply, Luke. It doesn't seem like there's a lot of finger twitchers visiting the forum right now. I have had a lot of limb issues lately, too and my tremor has me really concerned to the point of trying to get back out to the movement disorder specialist. We'll see what happens.

Like you, I also have pain in my index fingers and some others, wrist pain and also pain in the left arm. I believe this is quite common with BFS.

Thanks again for replying,
God Bless, Mark

Hi Mark,

I have the same type of pain, arm, hand and index finger, but on my right hand. I don't know if it is because I am right handed or not. I had shown my neuro the tremor and he said it was benign, but I WORRY!

Do you have the feeling the the hand is about to shake when it is at rest? Or do you have the feeling that there is popping in your fingers when your hand is at rest?

I kind of get this but it almost kind of feels like a twitch. It is wierd and scary.

All the best,

Luke

Thanks Zekebcfs - good to know there are others who have had this symptom. It's the reassurance knowing we're not the only ones on this forum that helps so much. I've come to this place many a time in a panic and have found great reassurance afterward.

Hey Mark, I haven't posted in a while myself. You know my story. Almost three years with this bfs. Still twitch 24/7. My hot spot has alway's been my hands and fingers. To answer your question, yes . My fingers move, twitch, jerk, bend, tremor, cramp and have the pain in the fingers to. I get this in the hands, wrist and arms to. I have this everyday. Totally bfs and benign. Take care.

I have had multiple finger twitches on the same day. Usually index and thumb like to dance around when I am not typing on a keyboard.
I do hand stretches every 2-3 hours at work and this seems to help.

Thanks for the reply sportsfan - the more reassurance, the better. My right forefinger seems to have calmed down but I have noticed more twitching in the web of my forefingers and thumbs lately and even on the "karate chop" part of my hands. When will it ever end...
God Bless, Mark

I just got on here hoping to find others with finger twitching issues!
Today is an especially twitchy & numb day (all over), but my middle finger started twitching today, and that's new! My thumb has always caused me trouble (went for about 2 straight days, about every 10 seconds). Then sometimes I wake up with my hand by my head, or have my arm extended in some other way, and all my fingers will twitch--maybe one finger will twitch per second. The middle finger of my left hand in particular, though, is totally out of control today.
I've always found it particularly disturbing when my fingers (or toes) move of their own volition.
Have you all been reassured by neuros that this is just another part of BFS?
