Weightlifting Injury: Shoulder Blade Itch

Symptoms started during June/July when i was in the middle of my examinations. I did have an itch around my shoulder blade that started in Feb/March (which has now turned into a partially numb region approximately the size of a wrist-watch face), which has been diagnosed by the osteopath and myself as a pressure injury from doing squats (i am a weight lifter). Then around June/July i started having an eye twitch in my upper eyelid. The twitch went on for 3/4 days, then stopped. It then returned around 2/3 weeks ago and has been coming on every 10 minutes or so for maybe 30 seconds at a time. I also had some random finger twitches in my index and thumb digits around 5/6/7 weeks ago that came and went. Now i rarely (maybe once or twice a day) have a thumb twitch. Still, most importantly in the last month or so (maybe more), i have had random twitches in my body (not just the eye). For example, my calf, quads, foot, chin (which i had with my eye to start with for a few days - then dissipated), and sometimes feel it in my abdomen and wrist/forearm. These are not continuous twitches, but maybe come on every 2/3 hours and last for a few seconds until i move that limb. The only weird sensations that have been more long lasting are that of the eye and the arch of my left foot (a sort of tingling/possibly a fast internal twitch - although it is hard to tell). I can't see any muscle wasting, buy thought it would be worth posting it up here to put my mind at rest. I am having my minerals/vitamins tested next week in London, along with general biochemistry, just because i thought one could check, although my Mg and Ca levels have come back normal so far. Any opinions on this would be great. I am an 18 year old male, and the generalised twitches occurred after an all night party prior to the summer holidays. I just really want this to go!!!

Hi harryI think you don't have to worry. A twitch every 2-3 hours is ver very common! Nothing to worry about (all my friends have these) Quite common to start bfs at with the eye twitch. If you still worry, see you're GP before you're worries get oud of hand (like the most of us here)greetzBart

Thanks for the reply mate. If you and others' had the eye twitch how long did it last? Well maybe not every few hours, the eye is on and off every 10 minutes and the arch of my foot appears to be a hotspot where the twitching causes tingling - presumably because the twitching is so rapid? Does anyone know if BFS ever dies down and goes?

I know several weight lifters who have wide spread twitching from their intense work outs but it is not BFS. And NO it is nowhere near ALS so don't even start down that path. Widespread twitching sounds like your over doing your workouts and Amino Acids and Electyrolytes are low. So says a freind who is on verge of going Pro! He gets twitching all the time.

Sounds like you are doing more than fine with your nutrition. I would still get rid of those fake food candy bars though. Just my opinion and their expensive. I hate thos esoy products. I have it on good account that many of thos eproducts are sorry to say but are pure craaaaap. Not that you buy them because you seem to have your nutrition down. Anywho good luck and your OK!

Thanks. So, do you think this is BFS, i mean i hope it will go? It seems to be mild (touch wood), i am less anxious now also, but i so want the eye twitch to go. Have you had one?

Could be but with athletic types such as yourself it is not uncommon to have twitches and not have BFS. Weird Huh!! What ever it is you can keep going on with life and just ignore those twitches!
