Weak Tongue and Stuck Food Bits

Any time I eat crackers of any sort, parts of them get stuck between my back molars and my teeth. The only way I can get them out is to brush or use my finger, which is gross. I haven't noticed this happening with any other types of food. I thought this was normal, but when I asked my family they said they never experience that. It made me think that now my tongue is too weak to get food out of my mouth and down my throat. Has anyone else had this happen because it's starting to really worry me.

To top it all off, I just bit my tongue while falling asleep. Has anyone ever done this? Please help. I'm now officially freaking out!

Thank you edado. Do you have any idea what would cause me to chomp down on my tongue in the middle of the night? Isn't this a symptom?

Thank you for the info. I don't have dry eyes at all and since I am hyperthyroid, I have been evaluated for other autoimmune disorders as well. The tongue biting thing is horrifying. It definitely woke me up.
