I'm thinking the same thing Terry and getting very frustrated. From what I can find, neurologists may do some research infrequently on this condition, but they don't ever publish anything directed at us- the patients. No matter how hard you try to avoid it, if you research this condition to find out more about it, you will inevitably find ALS. It absolutely cannot be avoided and when you have a strange, generally unknown neurological condition, that's a horrible circumstance! It becomes like subliminal advertising. Even the Mayo study was not to find out what BFS is. Attempting to comprehend neurological studies for the average person who is trying to understand what they have is like trying to learn Chinese while swimming- not that I've tried.

If they don't want us to be anxious, how about giving us some useful, real information about what we have. If we understand what we have we won't have to go looking for ourselves. Sorry, my angry rant for the day :D) Still happy for you though J!

Thanks Sir_Trouserz. And I feel your pain. From one "non-specific" symptom person to another. Though I will say that "specific" findings may not necessarily be what you want. At least BFS is benign.

That's great news JMAN. Oddly, it's always a little comforting for me to notice how "bemused" the neurologist is. Let's me know what a dunderhead I am.

If we knew what causes BFS maybe we wouldn't spend time worrying what causes BFS. The answers from neurologists run the spectrum from anxiety to autoimmunity to viral to unknown. I find that frustrating. I think we need a simplified, unified answer from the neurological field, though I know causes may vary by person.
