Ok, Im writing this about 30 minutes after my vision exam today.I went to the local optician and got an exam cos my eyes have felt a bit tired lately. I could see just as good as normal people but she said I have to use my eye muscles more to do so. Im getting reading glasses because I am long sighted. If I did not have any of the twitching and dizziness and other stuff I wouldnt bother at all but now I am climbing the walls here out of fear. What if I have some kind of neurolgical disease!!! Last time I checked my eyes was 1 year ago and I had perfect vision. That was before I got a drivers license. I am 21 yo and I do not know of many people getting glasses at this age. Am I just overreacting??

Hi,
One of the charateristics of ALS and most neuromuscular diseases is that that they spare the eye muscles. So don't try to lump everything together. You need glasses, unfortunate, but not ALS.[/b]

Don't worry - I went through exactly the same thing when I thought I had MS. My eyes had got worse and they changed my prescription but it is just because your eyes get worse as you get older. You are lucky to have had perfect vision so long - 21 is NOT young to get glasses. Everyone's eyes get more long-sighted as they get older, which means that short-sighted people's eyesight actually gets a little better (but hasn't happened so far in my case :D) )
