Viewing EMG/NCS Reports After Clean Results

ok please can you answer me this...

for those of you that have had an emg or ncs, and they have been declared 'clean' - have you actually seen the report yourself or just had the results conveyed verbally?

please - i need to know this... i am driving myself quite mad now...

Verbally but dont worry, if they gave it to you verbally nothing to worry about; if they showed it to you would you know what it meant? If it doesnt alarm a DR. then it should not alarm you...Jenn

I got mine verbally only from all 3 neuros. They all told me the results right there in the office. It was not until months later that I actually thought to ask for a hard copy. They were happy to omply and I kept that copy with me to read for reassurabce... until I find the nect thing to worry about. I only asked for a hard copy because my dad recommended it but for weeks I never had one and it didn;t bother me, I believed what the neuros told me and you should too ... don't drive yourself mad ... :)

Verbally.
And barely that. I had to ask my neuro weeks later whether my emg showed anything.

While he was doing the test, he even asked me if I was feeling any weakness in my arm, so who KNOWS what the heck it showed? LOL.

I was never afraid of having **S, so it never bothered me that I didn't see the written report. I think eventually I did get it mailed to me and I've never read it.

Sometimes, a doctor will share the results of your tests on a "need to know" basis, particularly if he/she suspects you may try to earn your medical degree online overnight and start interpreting the results yourself.

I don't agree with this sort of treatment, but it does go on occasionally. They are obligated to give you the written report if you ask for it, but otherwise, not.

I hope this helps to ease your mind...

Blessings,
Sue

Mine was also given verbally during and after the test was done. Weeks later I requested a copy of the report to have in my file. Only because I was going from neuro to neuro. I do have it and read it constantly. NORMAL, NORMAL,NORMAL!

Okay then why, might I add am I having another? Because I'm nuts, that's why.

Hey E,

The report states you are fine. If you were not fine he would be recommending this and that. You know he wouldn't have just done the test and said okay be on your way without a solid feeling that you have no MND.

I read the report and can understand where he is stating that you are healthy with no MND but the rest is just a bunch medical terms to me. Its a jarbbled mess to me. I really think you need a Phd to actually read what they write. Why can't they speak english.

I can see why you would pick out those few words and dwell on them believe me. That is what us neurotics do right?? LoL
You are so fine. Trust me, trust them and trust all of us.
Don't go down the path of negativity again like me it's so exhausting and with the kids you don't need any more exhaustion. ;)

You need to really focus on being healthy. I've been trying the same the past few days. I know we will have our good and bad days and it is okay. Don't feel embarassed or weak when the moments arise that is what we are here for.

I'm thinking of you often. I'm always here so if you every need anything pm, Okay. We are all here for you whenever you need help.

Hi Emma,

I've read the neurophysiologist's report and I can't see anything other than a glowing testament to your good heath and evidence of your over active imagination :)

They do say ignorance is bliss and the only problem I can see is "too much information"! If you'd got your results back and all it said was "perfectly normal" you'd be perfectly happy, but instead they have to go into great detail and use all those words that you read as trouble.

So what has he told you?

MND "They showed no evidence for this condition"!

Denervation "This muscle is commonly affected by “denervation” Common as in most people without any nasty disease.

Atrophy "atrophy is likely to have been of several years duration and not due, or to have been caused, by any sinister neurological disease" so nothing to do with **S

Cause of atrophy "ischaemic injury or compression or stretch, or epidural anaesthesia, on a spinal root such as during the deliveries you gave" so basically this is just a result of an injury or a compression.

Weakness "I also wondered during the examination about the absence of weakness (itself a very good sign) " Weakness is abscent!

myositis "a nonspecific translation to say a muscle have been affected by an inflammation, in your case likely from hormonal abnormalities" A swollen muscle ;)

non-active myositis "implies the disease process in receding. " **S doesn't recede.

Disease "inflammation, in your case likely from hormonal abnormalities"

Alive and well "YOU"!! :)
